One Bam Bird: Games & Gatherings

One Bam Bird is a brand-new, modern social studio built around mahjong, canasta, bridge, and the kind of analog experiences that make people lose track of time. We teach lessons, run leagues, host open play, throw showers and birthday parties, and run team-building events for companies who'd rather not do another trust fall. The space is stylish, cozy, and designed so that walking in feels much easier than walking out.

We're opening soon and you would be one of our first hires. You won't be inheriting someone else's systems, you'll be helping build them. At One Bam Bird, we're hiring the person, not the résumé.

Before you read any further…

It's a Tuesday evening. Three women are at a table mid-game, laughing at something that happened four turns ago. A fourth woman comes through the door alone. She signed up two weeks ago, told herself she'd come, and now she's standing just inside the entrance holding her coat, not sure whether to check in somewhere or just…stand there.

Did you already know what you'd do? Did you picture yourself putting down whatever you were holding and walking straight over, working out where to seat her, how to introduce her without making a production of it, how to hand her a drink so she has something to do with her hands?

If yes, keep reading. That instinct is the entire job, and it's the one thing we can't teach.

As our Studio Manager & Experience Host, you will:

Run the studio during your shifts
Greet every guest like the studio has been waiting for them specifically
Host sessions, help with events, and help with lessons alongside our teachers once we've taught you (we will)
Keep the space beautiful: cleanup, reset, organize, and notice all the small things nobody else notices until they're wrong
Restock snacks, drinks, and supplies before we run out, not after
Make and hang in-store signage that looks like it belongs here
Contribute to marketing: ideas, execution, and social posting
Update the website, post new classes, etc.
Help run the retail side: inventory, merchandising, buying input, and the systems behind it
Wear other hats as they appear, because they will

Skills we'd swoon over*: Instagram, Canva, Squarespace or similar website tools, Square or another POS, inventory systems, scheduling software, basic merchandising or visual display, event coordination.

*Not required by any means, but certainly a huge plus!

You'll fit in beautifully here if you:

What you don't need to be: a mahjong player (we'll teach you and you'll be good at it), a card shark of any kind, an experienced teacher (though we'd love it if you are), a retail veteran, a social media professional, or someone who can explain why we're called One Bam Bird (ask us and we'd love to tell you).

The practical stuff

Position: Studio Manager & Experience Host | Type: Part-time, hourly, non-exempt | Start: September 2026

Schedule: We're hiring two people to cover approximately 27 hours per week across these shifts:

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Saturday, Sunday: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

How we divide them depends on you, the applicants. Scheduled hours are an estimate and may vary with business needs.

Two more notes on scheduling:

o Events: we host private parties, showers, and corporate sessions that sometimes fall outside the shifts above, and extra hours may be available if you want them.

o Daytime backup: the founder covers Tuesday–Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., and when she can't, we need someone who can — any daytime availability or flexibility is a real plus, so please tell us what yours looks like.
