Schedule: Full Time, M-F 8:00 am to 5:00 pm , rotating Saturday 8:00am-Noon, paid holidays

We are seeking a motivated Bookkeeper with a passion for people and teamwork to join our Team. The position is people focused, fast paced, rewarding. The Bookkeeper is responsible for the entry and accuracy of all transactions into the computer system that are made at the store level. In addition, they’ll perform the following duties: balance daily, prepare daily bank deposits, maintain files, perform general clerical functions, maintain business machines, support profit goals and the Inside Sales Team. The Bookkeeper also assists the Team to achieve all the store’s annual goals including sales, gross margin percent, gross margin dollars, and expenses.

Hourly rate is dependent on experience and overall knowledge of the position.

Responsibilities:

Be physically able to walk and stand on the job for extended periods of time, and frequently bend, squat, reach, lift, carry, push and pull.
Ensure that all petty cash slips are properly completed and the fund balances at all times. Request replenishment as appropriate.
Account for all cash tills and the petty cash fund. Immediately report any discrepancies
Perform all accounting and clerical functions required. Check and balance the daily work and prepare the daily bank deposits.
Set up and maintain files, including a separate credit P.O. file for vendors, and process credits.
Open and route all incoming mail and handle all outgoing mail.
Prepare correspondence to suppliers and customers as necessary.
Tag returns, process customer returns and contact appropriate vendors regarding the returns.
Assist with inventory control, weekly cycle counts, and annual physical inventory
Act as 41 Lumber’s representative and treat all customers and third parties in a courteous and friendly manner
Be alert to possible sales opportunities and relay them to the Store Manager
Report all customer complaints to the Store Manager

Education: High school diploma or experience in a similar role

Experience: one year including basic comprehension of bookkeeping principles. Knowledge of general inventory practices.
