Partner with Truckman Transport on a Major Energy Project and Maximize Your Earnings

At Truckman Transport (MC# 1430814), we are seeking experienced and reliable CDL-A Owner Operators with a Hazmat endorsement and their own heavy-rated trailer to haul battery energy storage containers on a high-volume project running across Texas. This is dedicated, steady project freight from the Port of Houston to project sites from the Rio Grande Valley to the Panhandle and West Texas.

You bring the tractor, a qualifying trailer, and the Hazmat endorsement. We bring the freight, the dispatch support, and the miles to keep you loaded.

Equipment Requirements (Please Read Before Applying)

You must own a tractor and a trailer that can legally and safely carry a 20-foot battery container weighing about 80,000 lbs, which sits concentrated on a 20-foot footprint. We will haul these loads repeatedly, so the trailer must be truly rated for it. Qualifying trailers:

Tri-axle step deck / drop deck, 53 ft, with a frame rated for 80,000 lbs concentrated in a 10-foot span (check your trailer's data plate, it must read 80,000 lbs or higher concentrated, not just the evenly distributed number). Standard combo or steel decks both work if they carry that concentrated rating.
RGN (removable gooseneck) or double drop / lowboy, as long as it can scale and safely carry an 80,000 lb 20-foot container within its concentrated load rating.
Tractor must be capable of pulling a loaded trailer at up to 80,000 lbs of cargo (about 114,000 lbs gross combined). A tractor geared and rated for heavy haul is strongly preferred.

Expectations from Our Owner Operators

Be punctual. Timely pickups and deliveries are crucial.
Secure every load to spec. These are high-value Class 9 hazmat loads secured with a prescribed chain, binder, and strap pattern on every trip. Securement is the job, and it comes first.
Manage hazmat paperwork accurately. Correct shipping papers and records keep us all compliant and on the road.
Communicate clearly. Stay in touch with dispatch and customers.
Work as a team. Your diligence ensures we consistently meet the project's demands.

Responsibilities

Haul Class 9 hazmat battery containers on your own qualifying trailer from the Port of Houston to project sites across Texas.
Secure every load to the manufacturer's specification using chains, binders, and straps. This is hands-on, physically demanding securement work.
Verify all tie-down points before every departure and re-check en route as required.
Carry and manage hazmat shipping papers and follow all Class 9 placarding and handling rules.
Operate within overweight permit limits and stay on permitted routes.
Pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure safety and compliance.
Maintain accurate ELD logs and records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel.
Obey all local, state, and federal traffic and FMCSA regulations.
Communicate effectively with dispatch on schedules and any delays.
Assist with basic equipment maintenance and report mechanical issues.

Qualifications

Valid Class A CDL.
Hazmat (H) endorsement required, or ability to obtain before start date.
TWIC card required, or ability to obtain (loads originate at the Port of Houston).
Must pass a TSA hazmat background check and a DOT drug screen.
Minimum 3 years commercial driving experience.
Must own your own tractor and a qualifying heavy-rated trailer (tri-axle step deck rated 80,000 lbs concentrated in 10 ft, or an RGN/double drop that can scale and carry the load). See Equipment Requirements above.
Flatbed, step deck, or heavy haul securement experience strongly preferred.
Physically able to perform heavy load securement, including climbing on the deck and throwing and tensioning chains and straps.
Willing and able to run regional lanes with 1 to 3 nights out at a time.
Excellent driving record with no major violations.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Pay: $6,000.00 - $9,000.00 per week
