Overview
Job description

The Echo Sonographer II is an experienced and fully competent sonographer who performs a variety of routine to complex echocardiograms including but not limited to Transthoracic Echocardiogram or TTE, with color. Spectral Doppler and 2-D imaging. Transesophageal Echocardiogram TEE, Plain Stress Echocardiogram or Dobutamine Stress Echocardiogram, TTE with bubbles. TTE with Contrast and advanced TTE such as TTE with 3D imaging for both inpatient and outpatient studies. Provides additional support for pharmacologic and exercise stress procedures, Holter testing, EKG and/or cardiac event monitoring as well as advanced procedures when needed (i.e. TAVR). Locates, evaluates, and records pertinent anatomical, pathological and functional data while using different systems of ultrasound equipment. Transmits exam to compatible DICOM storage applications, process preliminary technical data in a designated interpreting system and communicates any significant findings to the attending reading physician. Actively participates in unit-based or system quality and compliance initiatives. This job requires availability to be on call.

Primary Responsibilities:

Perform routine 2D/Doppler echocardiograms and vascular exams (procedures include but are not limited to carotid, arterial, venous for DVT and venous for Reflux). Other duties may be assigned by supervisor.
Familiar with EMR to ensure the correct test is ordered, accurately input the correct billing codes for he test, and prepares preliminary echocardiogram and vascular reports with measurements for physicians.
Adequately explain the test to the patient and provide quality patient care.
Maintains equipment in efficient operating order; performs preventative maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis; contacts Technical Support for major malfunctions.
Knowledge and routine use of digital image storage system (Ultralinq) and associated workflow software.
Must adhere to the protocols and actively participate in the departmental QA program and accreditation process.
Maintain CME's. CPR and registries necessary to perform job duties as a registered sonographer.
Follow HIPAA policies and procedures. Respects and maintains patient confidentiality.

Education and Licensure:

Registered y American Diagnostic Registry for Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as RDCS or RVT or Registered by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as RVS or RCS.
