Operations Manager - Marine & Offshore Service Operations

Job Summary
The Operations Manager for Marine & Offshore Service Operations is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the execution of specialized marine and offshore technology services. This position manages field service delivery, parts and logistics operations, service coordination, and the processes, systems, facilities, and tooling essential to supporting a growing service organization. The successful candidate will be accountable for operational profitability, capacity and resource planning, inventory and fulfillment performance, service quality, safety compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. Leading key service and operations personnel, this role also serves as a senior management interface with customers on service delivery and operational matters, ensuring excellence in all aspects of operations.

Responsibilities

Manage the operations budget, including forecasting and profit-and-loss performance across field service, parts, and service coordination functions, with a focus on cost control and utilization targets.
Lead capacity and resource planning, balancing customer demands, warranty work, and revenue-generating activities, while aligning headcount with forecasted needs.
Supervise, develop, and evaluate field service, parts, and service coordination teams, establishing objectives and supporting organizational growth and succession planning.
Oversee parts and logistics operations, including inventory strategy, stocking levels, critical-spare availability, warehouse coordination, and order fulfillment performance.
Define, monitor, and report on operational KPIs such as customer response time, service report turnaround, invoicing cycle time, utilization, quote turnaround, order accuracy, inventory performance, warranty costs, and customer satisfaction.
Act as the senior escalation point for major customer service and operational issues, engaging directly with customer management to resolve disputes and implement recovery plans.
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality standards, classification society requirements, and health, safety, and environmental standards.
Drive continuous improvement of operational processes, including service request intake, scheduling, job readiness, field reporting, invoicing, warranty administration, parts quoting, and order fulfillment.
Manage and enhance ERP-driven service and parts processes to improve operational visibility, inventory control, and scalability.
Review and approve service and parts quotations, commercial terms, and scope definitions within authorized limits.
Collaborate with Engineering and Product Management teams to analyze equipment failure trends and support product and documentation improvements.
Oversee field service training, certification programs, and ensure facilities, tooling, and test equipment meet operational and customer requirements.
Standardize processes, documentation, and operational systems, incorporating automation and AI-enabled workflows to reduce costs, improve cycle times, and support organizational growth.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field; or an Associate degree in a technical discipline with equivalent experience and training.
Minimum of seven years of experience in operations, service, or field service management within an industrial, marine, or offshore environment.
At least three years of experience managing department-level budgets or P&L and KPI performance.
Proven experience managing ERP-driven operations involving order fulfillment, inventory, and service management processes.
Working knowledge of marine or offshore service operations.
Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple operational priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
Willingness to travel approximately 20%–40% domestically and internationally, including customer sites, shipyards, dockside operations, and offshore vessels.

Preferred qualifications include over ten years of experience in marine or offshore service operations, supporting complex systems such as Dynamic Positioning, knowledge of classification society requirements, supply chain and logistics expertise, operational excellence experience, and familiarity with ERP and project management systems.
