1.0 POSITION SUMMARY
The Warehouse Supervisor leads day-to-day warehouse execution for the assigned shift, area, or facility, translating production and customer requirements into safe, timely, and accurate material flow. The role supervises warehouse associates and leads performing receiving, inspection handoffs, put-away, storage, cycle counting, picking, kitting, staging, internal transfers, production replenishment, finished-goods handling, and shipping support. The supervisor is accountable for workforce deployment, transaction discipline, inventory accuracy, traceability, equipment use, housekeeping, and team performance, while coordinating closely with Materials, Production, Purchasing, Quality, Shipping, Project Management, EHS, and HR.
2.0 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Workforce Coordination

Lead assigned warehouse employees and temporary labor in accordance with company policies, safety requirements, production priorities, and established standard work.

Plan daily staffing and equipment needs; assign and rebalance work based on inbound volume, production schedules, material shortages, shipping priorities, and available capacity.

Conduct start-of-shift huddles and shift handoffs to communicate safety topics, workload, priorities, shortages, schedule changes, quality concerns, and performance expectations.

Monitor attendance, schedules, breaks, timekeeping, and approved overtime; promptly escalate coverage or staffing needs to the Warehouse & Materials Operations Manager.

Train, coach, and cross-train employees; maintain awareness of skill coverage and provide timely recognition, performance feedback, and development support.

Participate in selection and onboarding; document performance, conduct, and attendance concerns; administer first-level corrective action; and provide personnel recommendations in partnership with management and Human Resources.
Daily Warehouse Execution
-
Direct receiving, unloading, counting, condition checks, inspection handoffs, put-away, picking, kitting, staging, material movement, and shipping-support activities.

Verify work is completed in the correct priority and required timeframe, with accurate quantities, locations, labels, paperwork, and ERP transactions.

Control dock, aisle, staging, hold, and outbound areas to prevent congestion, mixing, loss, damage, and unauthorized movement of material.

Ensure open receipts, picks, transfers, shortages, and staging needs are reviewed and communicated before the end of each shift.

Provide hands-on operational support when workload, staffing, training, or urgent production needs require supervisor involvement.
Inventory Control & ERP Data Integrity
-
Enforce timely, accurate ERP transactions for receipts, put-away, issues, returns, transfers, staging, and approved inventory adjustments; do not permit physical movement without corresponding system control.

Maintain bin, rack, location, label, barcode, lot, serial, and job-allocation accuracy; correct errors at the source and prevent recurring workarounds.

Plan and execute cycle counts and inventory audits; research variances, identify root causes, document findings, and route adjustments for required approval.

Protect high-value, customer-owned, restricted, or otherwise controlled inventory through appropriate access, segregation, counting, and documentation practices.
Material Flow & Production Support
-
Review production schedules, job requirements, pick lists, kit status, and shortage reports to align warehouse priorities with operational commitments.
-
Ensure kits and staged material are complete, clearly identified, protected, and delivered to the correct production or project location at the required time.

Coordinate line-side replenishment, internal transfers, interfacility movements, job closeout returns, and reconciliation of unused material.
-
Escalate shortages, incomplete kits, capacity constraints, or conflicting priorities early; support authorized expediting without bypassing quality or traceability controls.
Quality, Traceability & Material Protection

Maintain FIFO or FEFO practices where applicable and preserve required lot, serial, heat-number, purchase-order, job, and customer traceability.

Segregate and identify damaged, discrepant, nonconforming, returned, or inspection-pending material and coordinate disposition with Quality and other authorized functions.

Ensure appropriate packaging, preservation, storage, and handling for electrical, mechanical, fabricated, and finished components to prevent damage or deterioration.

Investigate picking errors, shortages, damage, misidentification, and delivery discrepancies; implement corrective and preventive actions within the warehouse.

Safety, Security & Housekeeping
-
Model and enforce PPE, powered-industrial-truck, pedestrian, dock, loading, lifting, battery-charging, fire-prevention, spill-response, and equipment-inspection requirements.

Conduct routine safety and 5S inspections; keep aisles, exits, access points, racks, work areas, and emergency equipment clear, organized, and within posted limits.

Stop unsafe work, remove unsafe equipment from service, report hazards and incidents promptly, and support investigations and corrective actions.

Maintain access and material security, including control of scanners, radios, keys, tools, and other assigned warehouse assets.
Equipment, Performance & Continuous Improvement

Ensure forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, dock equipment, scanners, scales, racks, and related tools receive required pre-use inspections, reporting, and maintenance follow-up.

Track and report operational measures such as safety, inventory accuracy, receiving turnaround, pick accuracy, kit completeness, backlog, on-time staging, damage, and throughput.

Use data, employee input, and root-cause analysis to improve layout, travel paths, capacity, standard work, transaction accuracy, and material flow.

Develop, update, and reinforce work instructions, visual controls, training materials, audit routines, and process documentation within assigned responsibility.
Cross-Functional Coordination

Partner with Materials, Production, Purchasing, Quality, Shipping/Logistics, Project Management, EHS, Human Resources, and other departments to resolve priorities and operational issues.

Communicate supplier discrepancies, shortages, schedule risks, inventory concerns, staffing constraints, and equipment or facility needs to the appropriate owner in a timely manner.

Support physical inventories, customer or quality audits, system implementations, process changes, site moves, and other operational initiatives as assigned.

Perform other related supervisory duties consistent with the role's purpose, classification, and business needs.
3.0 QUALIFICATIONS
Required
-
High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
-
Three or more years of warehouse, inventory, materials, logistics, or manufacturing experience, including at least one year in a lead or supervisory capacity.

Demonstrated ability to direct daily work, manage competing priorities, train employees, address performance issues, and maintain dependable shift coverage.
-
Working knowledge of receiving, storage, picking, kitting, staging, material issue and return, cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, and traceability practices.
-
Experience using an ERP or warehouse-management system and proficiency with routine computer applications, email, spreadsheets, scanners, and electronic records.

Ability to read and interpret purchase orders, packing slips, bills of material, pick lists, drawings or job documentation, labels, procedures, and inventory reports.

Sound judgment, attention to detail, basic business math, problem-solving ability, and clear written and verbal communication skills.
-
Working knowledge of warehouse safety, powered-industrial-truck practices, PPE, 5S, material-handling equipment, and standard-work compliance.

Ability to obtain and maintain company-required forklift or powered-industrial-truck authorization and safely operate applicable equipment.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, push, and pull for extended periods; and work around moving equipment and varying warehouse or production conditions.

Ability to work the assigned shift and adjust hours, including overtime or weekends, when required by operational needs; ability to travel between company locations as required.
Preferred
-
Associate degree, technical credential, or coursework in supply chain, logistics, operations, business, or a related field.

Five or more years of manufacturing warehouse experience and two or more years of direct people-leadership experience.

Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a comparable manufacturing ERP system.
-
Experience supporting a high-mix, project-based manufacturing environment, including electrical controls, switchgear, fabrication, or related industrial products.
-
Training or certification in forklift operation, inventory control, Lean, 5S, continuous improvement, or warehouse safety.
-
Experience coordinating material across multiple departments, shifts, or company facilities.
4.0 REPORTING STRUCTURE
Reports To: Warehouse & Materials Operations Manager
Directly Supervises: Assigned Lead Warehouse Associates, Warehouse Associates, and temporary warehouse labor, as applicable.
Key Working Relationships: Materials, Production, Purchasing, Quality, Shipping/Logistics, Project Management, EHS, Human Resources, and other operational support functions.
Supervisory Authority: Assigns and prioritizes work; redirects resources; stops unsafe activity; holds or segregates discrepant material; initiates variance research; provides performance feedback; and recommends staffing, overtime, training, corrective action, equipment, and process improvements within established company authority and approval requirements.
