Job Description

Meridian Hospital is seeking an experienced OR Circulator Registered Nurse to support safe, efficient, and high‑quality surgical care. The OR Circulator plays a critical role in patient advocacy, intraoperative coordination, and regulatory compliance, collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesia, and surgical technologists throughout the perioperative continuum.

Positions Available:

Operating Room

Minimum Qualifications

Degree from accredited nursing program
Current License as a Registered Nurse (Texas)
Minimum of 2 years work experience as a RN in area of expertise

Essential Functions:

Function as the circulating nurse for assigned surgical cases and service lines
Prepare and manage the operating room to ensure proper equipment, supplies, sterility, and safety
Verify patient identity, procedure, site, and required consents; participate in time‑outs and counts
Coordinate intraoperative workflow, anticipating the needs of the surgical team
Maintain a safe and sterile environment in accordance with AORN, CMS, and hospital policies
Administer and document medications, implants, specimens, and surgical events accurately
Collaborate with anesthesia during induction and emergence
Ensure proper patient positioning, skin preparation, and equipment grounding
Participate in room turnover and readiness for subsequent cases
Communicate effectively with PACU and receiving units to ensure continuity of care
Actively support survey readiness, infection prevention, and quality initiatives

OR Circulators at Meridian Hospital may support a variety of surgical specialties, including but not limited to:

General Surgery
Orthopedic Surgery (including total joints)
Spine Procedures
ENT
Urology
Pain
Gastrointestinal / Laparoscopic Procedures
Vascular Procedures

Physical Demands

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to lift and/or carry over 50 pounds on a regular basis and be able to push/pull over 50 pounds on a regular basis. The employee must be able to stand and/or walk at least five hours per day.

Education

Current Texas RN license
Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room / Circulator RN experience
BLS certification (ACLS preferred based on service line)
Strong knowledge of perioperative workflows and sterile technique
Preferred: BSN/ CNOR certified

Schedule

Full-time or PRN
Day shifts
