POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the direction of the Vice President - Operations, the Assembly Supervisor is responsible for leading daily assembly operations while actively participating in the assembly, inspection, testing, and packaging of Bowtech products. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires working alongside Assembly Technicians to ensure production goals, quality standards, safety requirements, and delivery schedules are consistently achieved.
The Assembly Supervisor is expected to spend a significant portion of their time performing production work, supporting team members, troubleshooting assembly issues, training employees, and ensuring products are assembled to Bowtech's exacting standards. This position serves as the primary point of contact on the production floor and plays a critical role in maintaining efficiency, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement within the assembly department.
The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership abilities, extensive knowledge of compound bows and archery equipment, excellent mechanical aptitude, and a passion for archery and/or bowhunting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Production Leadership and Working Supervision
- Lead daily assembly operations while actively participating in production activities.
- Perform assembly, inspection, testing, packaging, and rework of products alongside Assembly Technicians.
- Coordinate daily production schedules and workflow to meet production goals and customer demand.
- Monitor production output and ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Serve as the primary production floor resource for assembly questions, troubleshooting, and technical support.
- Assign work responsibilities and adjust staffing priorities as production needs change.
- Monitor employee productivity, quality performance, attendance, and adherence to company procedures.
- Train, mentor, and develop Assembly Technicians and new employees.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement throughout the department.
- Assist with performance evaluations and employee development activities.
- Communicate production challenges, staffing concerns, and operational issues to leadership.
- Lead by example through professionalism, work ethic, safety awareness, and commitment to quality.
Assembly Operations
- Assemble compound bows, accessories, and related products according to established specifications and work instructions.
- Perform bow setup procedures including component installation, adjustments, inspections, and functional testing.
- Verify proper assembly of cams, limbs, risers, cables, strings, modules, accessories, and related components.
- Perform quality inspections throughout the assembly process.
- Conduct operational testing and final verification of completed products.
- Troubleshoot assembly issues and assist employees with technical concerns.
- Support implementation of new products, processes, and assembly methods.
- Ensure assembly tools, fixtures, and equipment are properly maintained and utilized.
Quality and Continuous Improvement
- Ensure all products meet Bowtech quality standards prior to shipment.
- Monitor assembly processes to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and quality.
- Investigate production issues and assist with corrective action implementation.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams on process improvement initiatives.
- Assist with root cause investigations involving assembly, quality, and product performance concerns.
- Promote adherence to standard work instructions and quality procedures.
- Maintain accurate production records and reporting requirements.
Inventory and ERP Support
- Utilize Dynamics D365 ERP to support production transactions, inventory accuracy, work order management, and production reporting.
- Monitor material availability and communicate shortages or inventory concerns.
- Assist with inventory control and cycle count activities as needed.
- Coordinate with Warehouse and Supply Chain teams to ensure material availability.
Safety and Workplace Organization
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Ensure employees follow all safety policies, procedures, and workplace requirements.
- Support ongoing workplace organization and continuous improvement efforts.
- Follow all departmental policies, procedures, and company guidelines.
CROSS-TRAINING AND BRAND SUPPORT
- Support assembly operations across all Bowtech brands and product categories.
- Cross-train employees across multiple assembly functions and product lines.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Warehouse, and Customer Service teams to support company objectives.
- Maintain working knowledge of current and future Bowtech products and technologies.
- Assist with special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior lead, supervisor, or team leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience utilizing Dynamics D365 ERP software.
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
- Experience assembling, tuning, and troubleshooting compound bows.
- Experience within the archery, hunting, outdoor, sporting goods, or manufacturing industries.
- Passion for archery, bowhunting, and the outdoor lifestyle.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of three years of manufacturing, assembly, or production experience.
- Minimum of two years of leadership, lead, trainer, or supervisory experience.
- Extensive hands-on experience assembling and working with compound bows.
- Strong knowledge of compound bow systems, archery accessories, replacement parts, and bow componentry.
- Thorough understanding of risers, limbs, cams, axles, strings, cables, modules, rests, sights, quivers, stabilizers, and related archery equipment.
- Ability to identify, inspect, troubleshoot, and resolve assembly-related issues involving bows and accessories.
- Experience utilizing ERP systems; Dynamics D365 experience strongly preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to read and follow assembly instructions, specifications, and production documentation.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Commitment to quality, safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Passion for archery and/or bowhunting.
- Ability and willingness to travel for extended periods of time as business needs require.
