Overview
The Project Logistics Advisor provides both technical and commercial expertise to support global capital projects by developing and executing end-to-end logistics solutions. This role focuses on enabling transportation visibility, minimizing execution risk, and driving capital efficiency across large-scale projects. The advisor will act as a subject matter expert across all transportation modes, including heavy lift, multimodal transport, ocean freight, and customs facilitation, while ensuring seamless integration with construction schedules and project timelines.

Responsibilities

Serve as a key logistics resource supporting multiple capital projects ranging from large-scale ($1B+) investments to smaller site projects and turnarounds.
Develop and execute logistics strategies for major capital projects, ensuring alignment with construction schedules and project milestones.
Lead procurement and performance management of logistics service providers, including heavy lift, heavy haul, and ocean freight carriers.
Act as a Heavy Lift/Heavy Haul subject matter expert by developing scopes of work, bid packages, and evaluating vendor proposals.
Manage global freight contracting, including negotiation and execution of agreements (e.g., BIMCO heavy lift charter party contracts).
Design and maintain transportation planning tools to support Required-On-Site (ROS) delivery timelines and construction integration.
Monitor shipment progress, identify at-risk deliveries, and implement mitigation and contingency plans.
Ensure compliance with global trade regulations, customs requirements, and safety standards across all regions.
Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and digital logistics platforms (e.g., SAP TM, Oracle TM) to enhance shipment tracking, reporting, and visibility.
Gather and analyze market intelligence through industry engagement and supplier interaction to inform logistics strategies and cost optimization.
Support multimodal transportation planning (ocean, barge, trucking, rail, and warehousing) for complex, oversized cargo movements.

Qualifications

Extensive experience in project logistics execution for major capital projects, including heavy lift, multimodal transport, and construction integration.
Strong expertise in Transportation Management Systems and digital logistics platforms (e.g., SAP TM, Oracle TM, tracking/visibility tools).
Proven experience in global freight contracting, including heavy lift ocean, heavy haul, customs, and risk management.
Deep knowledge of heavy lift operations, charter party agreements (e.g., BIMCO), and global shipping practices.
Demonstrated ability to manage logistics risks, ensure compliance, and develop contingency strategies.
Experience supporting global supply chains within upstream, downstream, or chemicals industries preferred.
Strong analytical and planning skills with the ability to align logistics execution to complex project schedules.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience supporting cross-functional project teams.
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
