School Counselor needed at the following location:

HGA Campuses

Position Type: 10-month

168 School Days
181 Teacher Days
13 Professional Development Days
9 Days Rest, Refocus, and Recharge (No Classes)

Compensation: $66,000.00

Must have a valid Texas School Counselor Certificate and LPC.

Licensed School Counselor

Houston Gateway Academy is seeking a dedicated and student-focused Licensed School Counselor to support the academic, social-emotional, and college/career readiness of all scholars. The School Counselor will implement a comprehensive counseling program that promotes student achievement, positive behavior, and overall well-being while supporting the mission of Houston Gateway Academy to prepare students for success in college, leadership, and life.

The Licensed School Counselor will collaborate with campus leadership, teachers, families, and community partners to provide guidance services, intervention support, and resources that ensure all scholars are equipped to reach their full potential in a safe and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide individual and small group counseling to support students’ academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs.
Implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with campus and district goals.
Monitor student academic progress, attendance, and behavior, and provide appropriate interventions and support.
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop strategies that promote student success and well-being.
Support college and career readiness initiatives, including high school planning, college awareness, and career exploration.
Respond to crisis situations and provide immediate support and referrals as needed.
Coordinate and participate in parent conferences and intervention planning.
Provide workshops and resources for students and families related to academic success, social-emotional learning, and college/career readiness.
Maintain accurate, confidential student records and documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.
Promote a positive campus culture that supports student achievement, character development, and leadership.
Collaborate with community agencies and outside service providers to support student needs.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
Must have a Valid Texas School Counselor Certification and LPC Certification.
Satisfactory outcome of a background check. Employees are responsible for a non-refundable fingerprinting fee (approximately $50.00).
Highly preferred bilingual (Spanish/English)
