Legal Assistant / Litigation Assistant (3-4 Years Experience Required)About Us

The Law Offices of Udo Ezeamama is a growing Texas law firm focused on probate, family law, estate administration, guardianship, civil litigation, and related matters. We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented Legal Assistant with 3-4 years of prior law firm experience who can assist attorneys in managing active litigation and probate matters from intake through resolution.

This position is ideal for someone who has worked in a Texas law firm and is familiar with court procedures, e-filing, client communication, and case management.

Responsibilities

Draft, format, and proofread pleadings, motions, discovery, correspondence, notices, and other legal documents.
File documents through Texas eFileTexas and maintain accurate court filing records.
Coordinate service of process, citation requests, subpoenas, and document retrieval.
Maintain case files and ensure deadlines, hearings, discovery responses, and court settings are properly calendared.
Communicate with clients regarding case status, document collection, scheduling, and routine case updates.
Prepare hearing notebooks, exhibit binders, and trial materials.
Assist attorneys with probate, family law, guardianship, and civil litigation matters.
Draft routine correspondence and communicate professionally with courts, opposing counsel, and third parties.
Conduct basic legal and factual research.
Review incoming mail, court notices, and pleadings and route them appropriately.
Track case progress and assist in moving matters toward resolution and closing.
Maintain accurate billing entries and assist with invoicing when necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3-4 years of experience working in a Texas law firm.
Experience in at least one area of civil law, including family law, probate, guardianship, estate administration, personal injury, or civil litigation.
Familiarity with Texas Rules of Civil Procedure and Texas court filing procedures.
Experience using legal case management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong proofreading, writing, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
Professional communication skills and strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently while also collaborating with attorneys and staff.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.

Preferred Experience

Texas e-filing experience.
Discovery management and document production.
Trial and hearing preparation.
Probate and family law experience.
Familiarity with Clio, MyCase, Smokeball, Filevine, or similar case management systems.
