Full Job Description

NCS is seeking experienced Cable Technicians to support structured cabling and telecommunications projects across multiple locations. Candidates must have experience working in IDF (Intermediate Distribution Frame) environments and be willing to travel for project assignments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with copper and fiber installations, cable terminations, testing, troubleshooting, and telecommunications infrastructure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling.
Perform IDF and MDF build-outs, upgrades, and maintenance.
Install, dress, label, and organize cables in telecommunications rooms.
Install cable pathways, including cable tray, conduit, J-hooks, and ladder racks.
Rack and stack network, telecommunications, and low-voltage equipment.
Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and network diagrams.
Conduct cable testing and certification using industry-standard testing equipment.
Troubleshoot cabling and connectivity issues.
Maintain accurate project documentation and daily reports.
Follow customer site requirements and company safety policies.
Work independently or as part of a project team to meet project deadlines.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of structured cabling experience.
Proven experience working in IDF and MDF environments.
Experience with copper and fiber optic installations.
Ability to terminate and test network cabling.
Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
Strong troubleshooting and organizational skills.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

BICSI Installer Certification.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
Fiber Optic Certification.
Experience working in healthcare, education, commercial, or industrial environments.
Experience with cable certification equipment and fiber testing tools.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to climb ladders and work at varying heights.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
Ability to work in active construction and operational environments.

Travel Requirements

Must be willing to travel for project assignments.
Ability to travel out of town for extended periods, including assignments lasting 4 to 6 weeks or longer.
Flexible schedule with the ability to work overtime, nights, and weekends as needed.
Per diem and travel accommodations provided in accordance with company policy.

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
