Full Job Description

Job Purpose:

Working in the Engineering Department at Lionel can be described as one of the best jobs in the world. Not only does a typical day involve designing, coding, and testing toy trains; we play with them too!

Working in the Engineering Department at Lionel means working at the intersection of firmware and physical motion. We create electronics that bring 100-year-old traditions to life through microcontrollers, motor drivers, sensors, and more.

This position will be tasked with electronics hardware development and some code work. We’re constantly pushing the limits of technology in toy trains, and the engineering challenges are far more complex than most everyone can imagine. Working with other Engineers to create tomorrow’s new tech is the norm here.

Responsibilities:

· Bench level prototyping and development with analog and embedded digital components.

· Schematic capture and PCB layouts designing for EMC.

· Scheduling and testing designs for EMC at 3rd party labs.

· Manufacturing engineering support by testing production samples and diagnosing failed units that are affecting yield.

· Supporting Product Managers by reviewing product manuals to capture new functions/features and for appropriate regulatory remarks based on sales region.

· Supporting Sales Team by registering new SKUs with Bluetooth SIG and generating Supplier’s Declaration of Conformance (SDoC) as it relates to EMC.

· Support Customer Service Team with training on new products being released and diagnosing corner-case problems.

Skills/Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and 5+ years PCBA design

· 5+ years’ hands-on experience in analog and embedded digital hardware design is required.

· Experience with RF transceivers is a plus.

· Experience with Altium Designer is a plus.

· Must be highly proficient with lab equipment (Oscilloscope, Electronic Load, LISN, Spectrum Analyzer, VNA, EMC Probes, etc).

· Ability to solder fine pitch devices (0.5mm) is required.

· Working knowledge of embedded C/C++ is required.

· Experience with microcontroller programmers (PICKit2, Atmel ICE, Etc) is required.

· Proficient in Word, Power Point, Excel (Microsoft VSS a plus)

Pay: $81,253.55 - $97,853.74 per year
