Southwind Eyecare is seeking a highly organized and leadership-driven Optometry Office Manager to oversee daily clinic operations, maximize financial performance, and foster an exceptional patient care environment.

Job Overview

Position Type: Full-time
Location: Hutchinson, KS
Salary Range: $45,000 - $60,000 / year or hourly rate
Reports To: Practice Owners

Role Summary

The Optometry Office Manager coordinates all daily operations of our vision care clinic. You will serve as the strategic connection between our clinical team, the optical dispensary, and our patients. Key focuses include managing front-desk workflow, tracking and targeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensuring compliance with medical billing and vision plans, and coaching staff to deliver a welcoming patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinic Operations & Patient Flow

Manage daily staff operations.
Act as the ultimate brand ambassador, directly resolving complex patient complaints or scheduling disputes.
Oversee patient recall initiatives to maintain full daily booking schedules.
Ensure proper maintenance, digital storage, and legal release of Electronic Health Records (EHR).

Team Leadership & HR

Recruit, onboard, and continuously train front desk associates, opticians, and optometric technicians.
Conduct performance reviews and handle real-time coaching to hit practice key performance indicators (KPIs).
Maintain standard HR compliance policies to preserve a physically safe, legally secure workspace.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associates or undergraduate degree in business, healthcare administration, or a related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of management experience in medical offices, optical retail environments, or fast-paced hospitality/customer-facing industries.
Technical Skills: Preferred but not required: proficiency with optometric practice management software (e.g., Compulink, RevolutionEHR, CrystalPM) and digital vision plan web portals.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with ophthalmic lenses, frames, contact lenses, and standard insurance copay interpretations are strong assets but not required.
Certification: ABO (American Board of Opticianry) certification or CPOA/CPOT status is a strong asset but not strictly mandatory.
