Operations Manager – Construction Staffing

Structured Trades | Austin, TX

Compensation: $78,000–$110,000 Base + Commission, DOE
Full-Time | Primarily In-Office + Field

Help Lead and Scale a Fast-Growing Construction Staffing Company

Structured Trades is looking for an experienced, driven Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our growing skilled trades staffing company.

This is not a behind-the-desk-only management position, and it is not a traditional 9–5 role.

We are looking for someone who can lead people, create accountability, solve problems, improve processes, and make sure things get done. You will oversee internal staff and recruiting operations while working closely with leadership, clients, field employees, and construction partners.

The right person will be excited about helping us build something bigger and will have the opportunity to grow into a higher-level leadership position as the company continues to expand.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Manage day-to-day company and office operations
Lead, manage, coach, and hold internal staff accountable
Oversee recruiting performance and ensure open orders are being filled with urgency
Participate in hiring, performance management, disciplinary actions, and termination decisions
Establish priorities and ensure the team follows through
Conduct employee training and ongoing staff development
Improve operational processes, procedures, and accountability systems
Review recruiting activity, open orders, placements, retention, and other performance metrics
Assist with employee relations and escalated field issues
Work closely with sales and account management to ensure client expectations are being met
Maintain and review contracts, documentation, compliance paperwork, and operational records
Assist with Certified Payroll / Prevailing Wage (CIP/PW) requirements when applicable
Understand client contracts, billing requirements, and staffing agreements
Prepare reports, presentations, and PowerPoint presentations for leadership and clients
Maintain strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Visit jobsites and clients when needed
Attend networking events, industry functions, meetings, golf tournaments, cookoffs, and other construction-industry events
Represent Structured Trades professionally in the Austin construction community
Help leadership identify opportunities to improve efficiency, profitability, and company growth

What We're Looking For

We need someone who takes ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do.

Required:

Previous operations or management experience
Experience directly managing employees and teams
Experience hiring, coaching, disciplining, and terminating employees
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with Microsoft Office and business reporting
Comfortable reviewing contracts, paperwork, and operational documentation
Comfortable conducting meetings, presentations, and employee training
Willingness to work primarily in the office while also visiting jobsites and clients
Flexible schedule based on business needs
Strong sense of urgency and accountability
Self-driven, decisive, and comfortable making decisions

Highly Preferred

Construction staffing experience
Skilled trades staffing experience
Commercial construction knowledge
Previous construction management or field management experience
Experience managing recruiters or staffing operations
Certified Payroll / Prevailing Wage knowledge
Experience with ATS/CRM systems
Contract and compliance experience
Existing relationships within the commercial construction industry

Construction field experience is a major plus. Someone who has managed projects, crews, superintendents, foremen, or field operations and understands how commercial construction actually works could be a great fit for this position.
