Full Job Description

Summary
O'Leary Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher to join our dynamic educational team. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore the wonders of science, fostering a love for learning and critical thinking. This full-time position requires a commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learning styles and promotes scientific inquiry.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state curriculum standards and foster student understanding of scientific concepts.
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
Assess and evaluate student progress through regular assignments, projects, and examinations, providing constructive feedback.
Foster a culture of curiosity and inquiry by encouraging students to ask questions, conduct experiments, and explore scientific phenomena.
Collaborate with fellow educators to integrate interdisciplinary approaches and enhance the overall educational experience.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance, and communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in science education and pedagogy.
Contribute to the school community through involvement in extracurricular activities, science fairs, and school events.
Uphold school policies and procedures while promoting a safe and respectful learning environment.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
Valid teaching certification for middle school science or eligibility to obtain one.
Strong knowledge of scientific concepts and the ability to convey them effectively to middle school students.
Experience in lesson planning, classroom management, and student assessment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment for all students.
Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance teaching and learning.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute positively to the school community.
Passion for science and education, with a desire to inspire and motivate students.

Employment is contingent upon board approval and successful completion of federal background check and drug-free workplace pre-employment screening.
