Remote in Illinois | Monday through Friday | 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Central
Sophia’s Cleaning Service is hiring a part-time Customer Service and Inside Sales Representative for a remote, work-from-home position in Illinois.
You will handle inbound customer service calls, respond to new leads, prepare cleaning estimates, follow up with potential clients, schedule appointments, and keep customer records accurate in Jobber, our CRM and scheduling software.
This is a permanent position that starts at 20 hours per week and pays $23 to $28 per hour, based on experience. Once trained, you can also earn commission when the calls you handle become booked clients.
Our goal is for this position to grow into a full-time role after approximately five to six months, based on performance, business needs, and mutual fit. Applicants should be interested in eventually transitioning to full-time employment.
No cleaning-industry or formal sales experience is required. We provide paid training.
The job, plainly
When someone calls us or requests a quote, you are the person who responds.
Speed matters. A family looking for a cleaning company may contact three businesses, and the one that answers quickly and follows through usually wins.
Your job is to make sure that company is us.
Who you will work with
Sophia’s Cleaning Service is led by Carol and Andre Kazimierski, entrepreneurs who have spent their careers building and scaling successful home service businesses.
They believe a growing company should create opportunities for the people helping build it. Their focus is not only on growing revenue. It is also on developing capable people, building leaders, and giving strong performers more responsibility as they earn it.
Your day-to-day manager will be Laura, our Director of Operations. Laura started with Sophia’s Cleaning Service in an entry-level position and grew into our Director of Operations.
You will receive clear expectations, personal training, regular feedback, and room to take ownership. Because this is a growing company with a small leadership team, your work will be visible. Strong performance gets noticed, and new opportunities are created as the business grows.
If you want to learn how a successful home service company operates and eventually grow into a larger full-time role, this is the kind of environment built for that.
Your starting schedule
- Monday through Friday
- 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Central Time
- 20 hours per week
- Fully remote within Illinois
- No evenings or weekends
These are our busiest hours, so consistency and availability during the entire shift are important. When your shift ends, the rest of your day is yours.
As the position grows into a full-time role, the schedule, responsibilities, compensation, and benefits will be discussed with you in advance.
Your paid training
During your first few weeks, you will learn the business from the inside. Laura, our Director of Operations, will personally train you on:
- Jobber, our CRM and scheduling system
- Our phone and client-messaging systems
- How cleaning quotes and estimates are prepared
- How our residential cleaning calendar works
- How to schedule and reschedule appointments
- How to document client and lead activity accurately
- How we follow up with leads and turn inquiries into booked cleanings
What you will do
Once trained, you will:
- Answer inbound customer service and sales calls
- Respond quickly to new leads and quote requests
- Prepare and send residential cleaning estimates
- Follow up with prospective clients
- Help turn interested leads into booked cleanings
- Schedule and reschedule cleaning appointments
- Handle client messages, questions, and basic service issues
- Update customer records in Jobber
- Review requests received while the office was closed
- Track calls, leads, estimates, follow-ups, and booked clients
- Keep the calendar and client information accurate
You and Laura will review your numbers together each Friday. If owning your results sounds motivating instead of intimidating, you will probably do well here.
Who succeeds in this role
You may have run a busy restaurant floor, worked an expo window, managed a classroom or daycare room, worked in retail or hospitality, or grown up helping with a family business.
The right person:
- Is warm, confident, and professional on the phone
- Responds quickly and follows through
- Can juggle several priorities without losing track
- Knows which task needs attention first
- Learns new software comfortably
- Cares whether the client actually books
- Wants to understand what is holding a customer back
- Can help customers make confident decisions without being pushy
- Is comfortable tracking their own results
- Has a quiet, private home workspace
- Has reliable high-speed internet
- Has a headset or is willing to purchase one
- Is interested in eventually transitioning to a full-time role
No formal sales experience is required. We can teach you our process. What we cannot teach is caring about the outcome.
Pay, commission, and growth
Starting pay is $23 to $28 per hour, based on experience.
After training, you will also be eligible to earn commission when the calls you handle become booked clients. Strong performers can earn above the listed hourly range.
This position starts at 20 hours per week with paid training and an introductory period. Our goal is for the person who succeeds in this role to transition into a full-time customer service and inside sales position after approximately five to six months.
The timing will depend on:
- Your performance
- Your reliability and consistency
- Your comfort handling client calls independently
- Business growth and available hours
- Mutual fit
Laura followed a similar path. She started with Sophia’s Cleaning Service in an entry-level role and now leads our entire client-service operation as Director of Operations. We promote from within whenever we can.
Who we are
Sophia’s Cleaning Service was founded in 1984 by Sophia Borek, who immigrated to Chicago from Poland and built one of the area’s most trusted cleaning companies through quality work and genuine care for people.
After Sophia passed away, her son Andre promised to keep the company operating with integrity, heart, and respect for the people doing the work. That promise still guides us today as we serve families across 39 Chicago-area communities.
We pay experienced cleaners above-market rates because people who are treated well do better work.
Through Cleaning for a Cause, every cleaning also generates a donation to cancer research and local charities in Sophia’s memory.
