Full Job Description

Summary: The Purchasing Representative is responsible for buying high quality grocery, protein and paper products at competitive prices to enable the company to operate efficiently, resourcefully and economically.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Creates and manages inventory levels for all products offered by Ideal Meats and Specialty Foods.
Create purchase orders based on current inventory and future projections of sales.
Monitors inventory levels for all Ideal inventory items and collaborates with relevant internal departments to manage inventory requirements.
Works in compliance with internal and external purchasing policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure all items are purchased and delivered within budget and time constraints.
Reviews purchase orders for timely placement and confirms proper authorization and compliance with organizational policy and procedures.
Works to identify, source, and manage vendor and supplier selection process based on price, quality, support, capacity, reliability, and internal/external quality standards.
Develops and maintains strategic relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
Works on developing, negotiating, and administering purchasing agreements with suppliers in support of organizational requirements.
Manages vendor/supplier contracts, risk, compliance, cost, quality and delivery performance and troubleshoots any vendor/supplier concerns.
Introduces performance improvement measures for vendors/suppliers as needed.
Issues customer credits in a timely manner.
Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), Associates Degree in Logistics/Business/Supply Chain (preferred).
Experience: 3+ years or more of experience in buying and selling, or equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred).
Language Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration across teams and with external partners.
Computer Skills: Proficient personal computer skills including ERP systems, email, record keeping, Microsoft TEAMS, Entree etc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the individual must be able to remain in a stationary position for at least 50 percent of the time while operating their computer and performing office work. The individual needs to occasionally move about inside the office, warehouse or a customer’s location. They constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. They must be able to exchange accurate information with customers, vendors and others in the office while interacting. The employee will occasionally lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. The individual must be capable of reviewing their work for errors and adjust as necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this Job, the individual is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and warehouse conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. The individual frequently works in a controlled climate, but occasionally works in coolers or freezers.
