Communications & Programming Associate (Part-Time, 30 Hours/Week)

Location: Indiana (Hybrid; combination of in-office and work-from-home weekly schedule, some evening and weekend hours required for community events & programs)

IMAN Advocates is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening civic engagement, leadership, and advocacy within Indiana's Muslim community. Through voter education, leadership development, and year-round community organizing, IMAN Advocates empowers individuals to become informed voters, engaged citizens, and effective community leaders. As our organization continues to grow, we are seeking a passionate and organized individual to help support our organization’s initiatives, expand our civic engagement initiatives, and increase awareness of IMAN Advocates' programs throughout Indiana.
Position Summary
This individual will be responsible for working with the Executive Director and Community Engagement Coordinator to amplify all civic engagement programs, managing communications, keeping track of any relevant metrics, and assisting with volunteer engagement. This grant-funded position will play a critical role in expanding IMAN Advocates' statewide impact by increasing voter education efforts, strengthening community leadership, and enhancing organizational communications.
Essential ResponsibilitiesCivic Engagement & Programming Support
- Plan and support voter registration, voter education, and GOTV events across Indiana. This role will require some travel outside of central Indiana communities.
- Organize volunteer phone banks, postcard campaigns, and other voter outreach activities.
- Maintain program calendars and coordinate event logistics.
- Support logistics, planning, and day-of setup/tear-down, and activities for the IMAN Leadership Academy including planning follow-up cohort meetings.
- Prepare reports summarizing program outcomes and organizational impact.
- Assist with general administrative duties related to program implementation.
- Other tasks and projects as assigned by the Executive Director.
Communications & Community Outreach
- Create content for email newsletters, social media platforms, and the IMAN Advocates website.
- Create communications that educate, inform, and mobilize community members around civic engagement opportunities.
- Increase community awareness of IMAN Advocates through consistent digital storytelling and public outreach.
- Coordinate promotional materials for events and organizational initiatives.
- Support increased follower accounts on social media platforms, and increased email sign ups.
- Other tasks and projects as assigned by the Executive Director.
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in nonprofit work, communications, political science, public administration, community organizing, event planning, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience coordinating events or community programs.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and email marketing tools. EveryAction experience is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse communities.
- Commitment to nonpartisan civic engagement and community empowerment.
Preferred
- Experience working in nonprofit organizations or community-based organizations.
- Experience in voter engagement, advocacy, or civic education.
- Experience with volunteer management.
- Digital communications experience.
- Experience using EveryAction or constituent databases.
- Familiarity with data collection and grant reporting.

Physical Requirements
This position requires prolonged periods of computer work, occasional lifting of event materials (up to 25 pounds), and local travel throughout Indiana to attend meetings, trainings, and community events.
Compensation
This is a grant-funded, part-time position averaging 30 hours per week. This is an hourly paid position of $17.50/hour. This position is fully funded for 2 years, with opportunity position expansion based on funding availability. Some evening and weekend work will be required based on organizational events and election activities.
