The Opportunity
Knox Ricksen LLP is seeking a Remote Senior Associate/Counsel licensed in California with 8+ years of civil litigation experience to join our nationally recognized Complex Fraud Litigation practice.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished litigator who is ready to take on sophisticated, high-exposure matters while working directly with experienced trial attorneys and institutional clients. Our Senior Associates are entrusted with substantial responsibility, including developing litigation strategy, managing complex cases, directing discovery, taking and defending key depositions, and playing an integral role in trial preparation.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who enjoys tackling challenging legal issues, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is looking to build a long-term career litigating complex fraud matters with a premier litigation boutique. The position includes an annual billable hour expectation of 1,850 hours, supported by a steady flow of sophisticated litigation and a collaborative team committed to delivering exceptional client service.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of sophisticated complex fraud litigation matters from initial investigation through trial and resolution.
- Delegate work effectively, lead litigation teams, and mentor and review the work product of junior attorneys.
- Develop and execute litigation strategies involving healthcare fraud, organized fraud schemes, provider fraud, civil conspiracy, RICO, and other high-exposure fraud matters.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research and draft persuasive pleadings, dispositive motions, discovery, and appellate-quality briefs.
- Analyze complex factual and financial evidence to identify fraudulent patterns, build compelling legal theories, and support strategic case development.
- Take and defend fact witness, corporate representative, expert, and key party depositions.
- Responsible for day-to-day case ownership and proactive management.
- Manage all aspects of written discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, and e-discovery.
- Collaborate with clients, investigators, forensic experts, data analysts, and other litigation professionals to develop and prosecute complex fraud claims.
- Attend hearings, mediations, case management conferences, and other court proceedings while effectively advocating for clients.
- Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation, expert coordination, exhibit management, trial strategy, and participation in all phases of trial.
- Evaluate legal and factual issues, assess litigation risk, and provide strategic recommendations and regular case updates to clients.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service, proactive communication, and trusted legal counsel.
- Stay current on emerging trends, legal developments, and regulatory issues affecting fraud litigation and contribute to the continued growth of the firm's Complex Fraud Litigation practice.
Qualifications
- Active California Bar license and good standing
- 8+ years of sophisticated civil litigation experience
- Proven ability to independently manage complex litigation from inception through resolution
- Significant experience with depositions, motion practice, written discovery, and case management
- Excellent legal writing, analytical, negotiation, and advocacy skills
- Experience developing litigation strategy and advising clients throughout the life of a case
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple high-exposure matters simultaneously
- Self-motivated professional who thrives in a collaborative, fully remote environment
- Trial experience or substantial trial preparation experience is strongly preferred

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $200,000.00 - $240,000.00, depending on experience and qualifications.
Note: Title depends on experience
