Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are the first stand-alone rice crispies shop and production facility in Orange County, making gourmet rice crispie treats for wholesale, retail, events, and theme parks. As we grow, we need a hands-on leader who can run the daily production floor — keeping the schedule on track, the team accountable, and quality and food safety consistent — while partnering closely with ownership on the bigger decisions. This is not a background, spreadsheet-only role: the right person leads from the floor, jumps in on cooking, stamping, dipping, cutting, or packing whenever output requires it, and treats food safety as a daily discipline.

Key Responsibilities

Staff Management (Day-to-Day)

Directly manage the Floor Lead, Associates, and Prep & Finish Associates during each shift — set daily expectations, coach performance, and hold the team accountable to the production schedule and quality standards.
Publish the daily production schedule and run brief daily huddles so the team starts each shift aligned; recommend weekly staff hours for CEO/President approval.
Support onboarding and training of new production staff; flag performance or conduct issues to ownership and recommend next steps — final hiring and termination decisions are made by the CEO and President.

Daily Operations & Hands-On Production

Own execution of the daily production plan against target output metrics (cook, stamp, dip, top, cut, pack, seal, label).
Step in on any station — cooking, tray finishing, dipping, cutting, or packing — daily to support the team to hit the schedule.
Track actual output against the standard minutes-per-task metrics and flag bottlenecks in real time. Adjust flow and task priorities to meet production output and customer order delivery.
Complete purchasing and support delivery to local customers using company vehicle as needed.

Food Safety & Quality

Serve as the floor-level point person for the Food Safety Plan: allergen control, sanitation between flavor changeovers, equipment inspection, and metal detection checks.
Maintain required logs (Metal Detection Log, Allergen Label Check Record, Equipment Inspection Log) and immediately escalate any corrective action to the CEO/President per the Plan.
Reinforce food safety and sanitation practices with production staff day-to-day, between formal trainings led by ownership.
Monitor product quality at every process step and correct deviations before product reaches packaging.

Inventory & Ordering (Recommend, Don’t Decide)

Monitor inventory levels day-to-day and flag shortages early.
Put together purchase recommendations for CEO/President review and approval; place approved orders with existing suppliers once signed off.

Communication & Reporting

Serve as the primary point of contact on the floor for day-to-day issues; give ownership regular updates on output, staffing, and any food-safety concerns that need a decision.
Complete deliveries to key customers as necessary.

Qualifications

2–4 years of experience supervising or leading a shift in a high-output kitchen, bakery, or food production environment.
Current ServSafe Food Safety Manager certificate (or equivalent) required; familiarity with HACCP / Preventive Controls concepts is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to lead and coach a small team day-to-day, with the judgment to know when to escalate a decision rather than make it unilaterally.
Comfortable tracking inventory and flagging purchasing needs; no prior budget-authority experience required.
Able to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for a full shift; work the line, not just direct from the sidelines.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; valid driver’s license is a plus for occasional delivery runs.

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
