Full Job Description

As the Account Manager – HVAC/R, you will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, maintaining strong customer relationships, and supporting the growth and retention of Preventative Maintenance agreements.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Generation & Business Development

Proactively generate new sales leads through outbound outreach, referrals, networking, property management engagement, and targeted prospecting
Execute assigned marketing plans and campaigns, including follow-up on inbound leads
Identify opportunities to expand services within existing customer accounts
Engage neighboring businesses, tenants, and multi-site customers to grow the account base
Request client referrals and recommendations to develop new business

Preventative Maintenance Agreement Sales & Management

Promote, sell, renew, and expand Preventative Maintenance (PM) agreements
Partner with Service Managers to:
- Review maintenance agreement performance and gross margins
- Recommend pricing updates or renegotiations as needed
- Ensure contract terms, scope, and delivery expectations are being met
- Proactively engage customers to retain contracts and anticipate evolving needs

Client Relationship Management

Establish and maintain strong, long-term relationships with assigned customers
Serve as the primary point of contact for PM agreement customers
Understand customer operational needs, facility challenges, and goals
Act as a trusted advisor by providing recommendations aligned with customer objectives.

Opportunity Management & Internal Coordination

Review open estimates and active opportunities for assigned accounts
Clearly document and transfer all non-PM opportunities to Estimating/Project Management
Maintain consistent communication with internal teams to support smooth handoffs

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.
5+ years of experience in B2B sales, account management, business development, or service-based selling.
Strong sales skills with the ability to generate, qualify, and close business opportunities.
Proven ability to develop and maintain long-term customer relationships.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and customer accounts simultaneously.
Proficiency with CRM systems and standard business software.
Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and capable of working independently.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience within HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical services, facility services, construction, or related industries.
Experience selling service agreements, maintenance contracts, or recurring service programs.
Experience managing and growing customer portfolios.
Experience working with commercial customers or multi-site accounts.
Knowledge of Preventative Maintenance programs and recurring revenue models.
Comfortable with cold calling, face-to-face sales, and business development activities.
Ability to collaborate effectively with Service, Estimating, and Project Management teams.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to evaluate account performance and customer data.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during customer meetings and site visits
Ability to travel locally to customer locations, job sites, and networking events
Ability to navigate industrial or commercial facilities as needed, including climbing stairs, accessing mechanical rooms, and climbing ladders when required
Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds occasionally
Ability to operate a computer, phone, and standard office equipment for extended periods

Grand Traverse Refrigeration is seeking an Account Manager – HVAC/R to support business growth through lead generation, customer relationship management, and the sale, renewal, and expansion of Preventative Maintenance (PM) agreements.This role is ideal for a motivated, relationship-driven sales professional who enjoys building trust with commercial customers, identifying service opportunities, and helping customers maximize the value of their HVAC/R and mechanical service programs.

The Account Manager serves as a key point of contact for PM customers while working closely with Service, Estimating, Project Management, and Operations teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences and drive long-term account growth.
