ESPORTS PROGRAM LEADER POSITIONS
Work ED is hiring Esports Program Leaders to join our team and work on-site at local elementary and middle schools. In this role, you will support our Esports Program within Orange County Schools’ after-school programs for the 2026–2027 school year, working with students in 4th–8th grade.
ESPORTS PROGRAM
Work ED is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Esports Program Leader to support our after-school esports programs for elementary and middle school students. This role combines instruction, mentorship, and coaching, creating an engaging and supportive environment where students can develop gaming skills, teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship.
As an Esports Program Leader, you will help students learn and develop skills related to the games and activities included in the program, while fostering a positive and inclusive esports community. You will also support students in preparing for potential competitions and events throughout the program.
The program may culminate in esports competitions or tournaments, providing students with an opportunity to showcase their skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a fun and supportive environment.
Program Timeline
- Paid Training Date: September 11th, 2026
- Estimated Start Date: Anticipated start date of August 31, 2026
- Program Duration: Supporting operations through the 2026 - 2027 school year going from September 2026 to June 2027.
Schedule
- Fall Session: September 14, 2026 – November 13, 2026
- Winter Session: January 11, 2027 – March 19, 2027
- Spring Session: April 4, 2027 – June 5, 2027
- Availability: Monday to Friday, with shifts scheduled anytime between 11:30 AM–5:00 PM.
- Availability during program hours is required
- Travel: This position requires daily travel to different school sites. Work locations and schedules may vary depending on the assigned school site and program needs.

RESPONSABILITIES & POSITION EXPECTATIONS
- Lead engaging esports activities and lessons tailored to elementary and middle school students.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver Work ED curriculum, guiding students through assigned activities, challenges, and gaming experiences.
- Introduce students to the games and activities included in the program, helping them develop gaming skills, strategy, teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship.
- Coach and mentor students, fostering confidence, collaboration, problem-solving, and positive peer relationships.
- Support and organize esports competitions, tournaments, and other program events, as applicable.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and educational environment where all students feel welcome and supported.
- Encourage healthy competition, teamwork, responsible gaming habits, and positive sportsmanship.
- Support students throughout the program and help them develop skills that contribute to their personal, social, and academic growth.
- Communicate effectively and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, school staff, chaperones, and school leadership.
- Collaborate with Work ED instructors, industry partners, and leadership before and throughout the program to help ensure a cohesive and successful experience for students.
- Support current and future school partnerships by maintaining a professional and collaborative presence at the school site.
- Complete all required onboarding and compliance requirements, including a background check and E-Verify.

QUALIFICATIONS
You are a great candidate if you have:
- Experience with gaming clubs, competitive gaming, or esports coaching is strongly preferred. Candidates with this background are encouraged to apply. This role will involve leading students through organized gaming sessions, helping them develop technical skills, teamwork, communication, and an understanding of esports and gaming as potential career pathways.
- Current or previous experience as teaching assistant, program operations, youth mentorship, or other leadership in helping youth grow as people
- An interest in helping students discover this career field and connect with them
- Experience in Minecraft, Rocket League, and Super Smash Brothers preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and team work abilities supporting a fast paced dedicated team working to constantly innovate in a new space
- Demonstrated passion for esports and its educational benefits.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create a fun, structured, and competitive learning environment.
- Understanding of how to effectively listen to students, parents, educators to understand potential challenges they are facing and be a pillar of support.
- Ability to lead and support our team in leading students, while building a culture of support and warmth
