Full Job Description

Position Summary

A large, rapidly growing, multi-brand franchise organization is seeking an experienced Director of Purchasing to lead purchasing strategy across its restaurant portfolio. This position will oversee vendor relationships, contract negotiations, product sourcing, cost-control initiatives, and supply continuity.

The ideal candidate has extensive restaurant or hospitality purchasing experience and a strong understanding of food, beverage, packaging, equipment, and operational supply categories. This leader will work closely with operations, finance, culinary, construction, and brand leadership to identify savings opportunities while maintaining product quality and brand standards.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute purchasing strategies across multiple restaurant brands and operating markets.
Lead vendor negotiations, contract renewals, competitive bids, and supplier performance reviews.
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality, availability, or brand standards.
Manage purchasing categories that may include food, beverage, packaging, smallwares, equipment, uniforms, and operational supplies.
Monitor commodity pricing, market conditions, supply-chain risks, and product availability.
Establish purchasing controls, approval processes, and standardized procurement procedures.
Analyze purchasing activity, vendor pricing, usage trends, and cost variances.
Partner with operations and culinary leadership on product specifications, substitutions, and new-product rollouts.
Collaborate with finance to support budgeting, forecasting, and accurate cost reporting.
Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, distributors, franchisors, and internal stakeholders.
Ensure purchasing practices comply with contractual requirements, food-safety standards, and company policies.
Lead, develop, and provide direction to purchasing team members.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, finance, hospitality, or a related field preferred.
Seven or more years of progressive purchasing, procurement, or supply-chain experience.
Three or more years of leadership experience.
Restaurant, foodservice, hospitality, or multi-unit franchise experience strongly preferred.
Demonstrated success negotiating vendor agreements and delivering measurable cost savings.
Strong knowledge of food distribution, commodity pricing, inventory management, and supplier performance.
Experience supporting multiple brands, business units, or geographic markets preferred.
Advanced analytical, financial, and contract-management skills.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and purchasing, inventory, or ERP systems.
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and cross-functional leadership skills.

Preferred Experience

Experience supporting a large-scale, multi-brand restaurant organization.
Familiarity with franchisor-approved suppliers and national distribution networks.
Experience managing purchasing programs across several hundred or more locations.
Knowledge of restaurant openings, equipment procurement, and supply-chain contingency planning.
