Full Job Description

Position Purpose:

The Corporate & Volunteer Engagement Manager (CVEM) is an emerging development professional who connects volunteer engagement to philanthropic investment. This role bridges volunteer activation and corporate giving, helping to build and manage a pipeline that moves individuals and companies from service to sustained partnership. Working closely with the Development Director, the CVEM supports corporate partnerships, sponsorship activation, and employee engagement initiatives while overseeing daily volunteer operations.

Designed for an early-career professional (1–3 years of experience), this position provides hands-on experience in corporate partnership development, volunteer program management, and sponsorship strategy with the opportunity to grow into expanded fundraising responsibility over time

Key Responsibilities:

Corporate Engagement

In partnership with the Development Director, identify, cultivate, and steward corporate, faith-based, and cause-marketing partners, including intentional pathways that convert volunteer engagement into deeper corporate relationships and financial support.
Design and execute corporate engagement events, sponsorships, and volunteer activations that provide meaningful value to partners while advancing Crossroads’ revenue and impact goals.
Develop and maintain a corporate engagement dashboard to track relationships, volunteer-to-corporate conversion, revenue, and progress toward quarterly and annual goals.
Collaborate with program leadership to understand funding priorities and impact narratives, ensuring corporate partners and volunteer groups are aligned with projects that match their philanthropic, CSR, and employee engagement interests.
Stay informed on philanthropic, economic, and community trends related to food banking, food equity, and corporate social responsibility to inform partnership cultivation and growth strategies.

Volunteer Engagement Operations & Program Administration

Lead the end-to-end volunteer engagement program, including recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, placement, and recognition for individual, group, and skills-based volunteers.
Maintain volunteer program infrastructure, including SOPs, policies, training materials, and the Volunteer Handbook, ensuring safety, compliance, and operational consistency.
Manage volunteer management systems (Volgistics) and ensure accurate, timely data entry and reporting within the CRM.
Use Ninety to track performance, monitor alignment with strategic goals, and support quarterly and annual volunteerism, revenue targets, and evaluate effectiveness and areas for improvement.
Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and best practices, including court-ordered community service and in-kind contribution tracking.
Support volunteer staffing for signature events, peak service days, and 1st and 3rd Saturdays, and Thursday evening service. In addition, host annual volunteer recognition event.
Perform other related duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, public relations, human services, or a related field; relevant experience may substitute for education.
Minimum 2 years of experience in community engagement, volunteer management, fundraising, or a related nonprofit role.
At least 1 year of staff supervision or people management experience.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Ability to work flexible hours, including the weekend (1st and 3rd Saturdays) and monthly Thursday evening to support operations and manage the volunteer experience.

Experience & Qualifications:

Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), CRM systems, virtual tools (Teams, Zoom).
Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, with demonstrated sociocultural competence.
Excellent organizational, time management, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Proven ability to think critically, anticipate risks, and adapt to changing organizational needs.
Strong interpersonal, networking, and problem-solving skills, including conflict resolution.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment with professionalism and initiative.

Working Conditions

The physical environment requires the employee to work primarily in indoor offices. Some travel is required to attend meetings/events/conferences locally, statewide, and nationally. Regular workday and workweek are established with some planned weekends, early morning, evening hours, and out of area travel.

Mental Demands

The employee in this position needs to adapt well in the face of workplace stressors such as volunteer or Market shopper complaints, concerns from corporate sponsors or community partners, compliance offenses, and competing priorities of reasonable or high significance to the successful function of the department. The employee must be able to effectively interpret data and make critical decisions that may have a significant impact on the team and organization.

Physical Requirements

The employee is expected to make decisions, supervise employees, read and write, speak publicly, and interpret information and data. May be seated for periods of time and occasionally may have to lift boxes or other materials that weigh less than 50 lbs. and operate a pallet jack.
