Company Summary:
Gill Grilling has been serving fraternities and sororities for over two decades, providing customized meal plans and daily on-site meal service at chapter houses. Our chefs prepare meals tailored to the preferences of fraternity and sorority members, creating a unique and engaging dining experience. Our team members enjoy a predictable schedule, an independent work environment, and a healthy work-life balance.

Position Description:
Are you a chef seeking a better work-life balance and tired of the long, unpredictable hours in traditional kitchens? At Gill Grilling, we offer manageable work weeks, consistent schedules, and the chance to run your own kitchen—plus, summers off!

As a Chapter Chef, you'll be part of our culinary team at Cornell, preparing some or all of the meals served at the location. While being an excellent cook is essential, the best Chapter Chefs also take pride in delivering outstanding customer service and managing their kitchen efficiently. You’ll actively listen to feedback and continuously strive to improve the dining experience for the residents.

Reports To:
Campus Manager

Tasks and Duties:

Ensure customer satisfaction by implementing feedback and following up on requests
Collaborate with the Campus Manager to design and adapt menus
Cook and serve hot, quality meals daily
Communicate regularly with your supervisor to ensure customer needs are met
Maintain safe food practices and a clean kitchen environment
Manage efficient inventory control

Knowledge and Skills Required:

Basic knowledge of university, fraternity, and sorority culture is helpful, but not required
Familiarity with general technology, including smartphone apps, text messages, and email communication
Strong customer service skills, including the ability to develop rapport with clientele, attention to detail, and consistent follow-through
Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently
Ability to cook delicious meals that meet clients’ preferences
Previous experience with kitchen management, food ordering, and maintaining high standards of food quality
Experience with "repeat customer service," such as in country clubs, is a plus
Professionalism and a high standard of client interactions

Qualifications:

3+ years of high-volume culinary experience
Adhere to safety practices and sanitation standards
ServSafe certified or willing to obtain certification
Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure
Manage on-the-fly requests with ease and professionalism
Understanding of food ordering and inventory control
Ability to reliably commute to Cornell
