Garden Center Horticulturalist
We are now hiring full-time horticulturalists for our Garden Center for immediate employment. Working at the Garden Center offers many opportunities, especially for people who enjoy interacting with others while learning and sharing their love of plants.
Established over 45 years ago, Cayuga Landscape is a full-service design-build landscape company, garden center, tree farm, and growing nursery. Nestled in the beautiful hills of the Finger Lakes, we specialize in deer resistant plants, perennials, native plants, fruit trees, and large shade and flowering trees.
The ideal candidate will be friendly with a positive and willing attitude, have a great work ethic and a broad knowledge of plants of the Northeast. Horticulture experience is required, with either a degree or coursework in Horticulture or a related field, or equivalent hands-on working experience. The ability to work one weekend day throughout the entire season is a requirement. Qualified applicants should enjoy being outdoors in all types of weather, be able to lift up to 40 lbs, and work well with others. Experience operating equipment such as skid steer loaders is a plus, but training is available. A valid NYS driver's license with no major infractions is necessary.

Salary: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour

Experience level:
- A degree in Horticulture or related field, or 3 years of work experience
Schedule:
- 4 weekdays and 1 weekend day, some overtime
Daily duties will include:
Greeting visitors and providing excellent customer service.
Assisting with plant selection and providing accurate plant care advice.
Knowledge in identifying and controlling pests and diseases.
Operating a POS system and general use of a computer.
Assisting in the maintenance of sales areas and gardens on the property, including receiving deliveries of plant material, watering, fertilizing, pruning and potting of plants.
In addition to customer service, the Garden Center allows employees to put their creative talents to work designing continuing rotating displays, annual planters, and winter holiday arrangements.
This is a full-time hourly position 9-10 months out of the year.
