The Learning Web has been dedicated to empowering youth for over 50 years, guiding them through the transition from adolescence to adulthood. Through comprehensive programs that include life skills training, employment support, and supervised housing, we serve a diverse population of young people, including homeless youth, helping them build a foundation for successful, self-sufficient futures.

Job Description

The Wellness Therapist is a part-time, 20 hours per week (.5 FTE) in person position with The Learning Web (LW). The Wellness Therapist will be responsible for developing and delivering clinical support (including individual and group counseling) to LW program participants agencywide. This position is also responsible for performing case reviews/audits of Wellness Services files. LW seeks a well-rounded Wellness Therapist who is passionate about serving marginalized youth often with trauma histories, with the vision to grow the program and increase services offered. Specifically, we are looking for someone who has demonstrated skill and success working with vulnerable, marginalized, disconnected and disenfranchised youth.

The goal of the program is to support youth (sometimes families) ages 12 – 26 to maintain / access safe, stable housing, work through crises and acquire tools to assist with wellness/mental health challenges, sometimes mediate family reunification / counseling and improve overall wellness.

The successful candidate for this position will have demonstrated experience with and commitment to equitable, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed practice in all areas of service delivery. This position requires a high-energy visionary with personable skills and the ability to multi-task, inspire, lead, problem-solve, report, and positively represent the Learning Web to funders, community partners and participants. The work is performed under the supervision of the Executive Director (initially).

Responsibilities of the Position

Administrative Responsibilities

1. Manage all aspects of Wellness services provided at LW including program reporting and data management.

2. Manage data collection, reporting and case review as it pertains to Wellness services offered agencywide.

3. Develop Wellness Services to ensure efficacy, increase impact/outcomes, and grow services.

4. Assure compliance with operational and reporting requirements of funders.

5. Represent The Learning Webin the larger community including program collaborators, program partners, funders, TCYS and TC DSS.

Direct Service Responsibilities

1. Provides mental health / wellness support, intervention/stabilization, with a solution-focused approach for youth and families in crisis.

2.Maintain an ongoing caseload of LW youth / young adults engaging in Wellness Services.

a. assist them in identifying and assessing immediate and long-term wellness needs.

b. provide effective care management of wellness needs; and

c. Complete / audit ongoing documentation/ notes in required data information systems or other data management systems.

3. Advocate on participant's behalf when / where appropriate.

4. Provide family reunification / counseling where/when appropriate.

5. Assist participants through Wellness services in maintaining stable, safe housing, employment, educational goals and in developing the skills to live independently if that is their goal.

6. Maintain high ethical standards when carrying out all duties and maintain strict adherence to all confidentiality, legal, and agency guidelines in all areas of service provision.

7. Conduct thorough patient assessments to identify mental health needs, including diagnostic evaluations and behavioral observations.

8. Deliver individual and group counseling sessions utilizing evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and behavioral therapy.

9. Provide crisis intervention and crisis management to support agency participants experiencing emotional distress or behavioral emergencies.

Qualifications

· LCSW in good standing with NYS with experience (at least 5 years) in counseling, and / or family therapy, clinical social work, psychology, or equivalent experience, along with at least three years’ experience in counseling with adolescents and families in high-conflict family systems

· At least five years’ experience working with youth or young adults in a community / human services setting preferred.

· Familiarity with community youth services and knowledge of adolescent social, emotional, and developmental needs

· Familiarity with medical terminology, patient care procedures, and records management related to mental health services.

· Knowledge of conflict management strategies and behavior management techniques suitable for youth and families.

· Ability to develop programs, gather, organize and analyze program data and reporting.

· Demonstrated ability to work effectively with difficult-to-reach service populations, especially disconnected/disenfranchised youth, and young adults, in a multi-disciplinary human service setting.

· Experience conducting individual and group counseling (informal or formal) sessions.

· Possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to deal with multiple tasks simultaneously.

· Experience working with community, social services agencies, schools, and educational programs.

· Must pass a criminal background check, a State Child Abuse Registry check, and possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driver's record.

· A clean driving record and ability to reliably provide transportation
