POSITION: Director of Learning
Collage Day School is an educationally dynamic, independent private day school in the beautiful Palm Valley area of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. We are a member of International Schools Partnership( ISP), a consortium of high-performing international schools located across the globe. PURPOSE OF ROLE :
The Director of Learning serves as the educational leader of the school, providing strategic and operational leadership to ensure excellence in teaching, learning, student achievement, and faculty development. The Director works collaboratively with school leadership, faculty, students, and families to foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing learning environment aligned with the school’s mission, vision, and values.
This role is responsible for supporting instructional excellence, curriculum development, student learning support, faculty growth, data-informed decision-making, and the ongoing advancement of academic programs and practices across the school community. The Director of Learning reports directly to the Head of School.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leadership and School Culture
- Maintain alignment between the school’s mission, vision, and daily educational practices.
- Serve as an instructional and educational leader within the school community.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and supportive school culture grounded in respect, professionalism, and high expectations.
- Lead collaboration and alignment across campuses to ensure consistency in learning experiences, academic programming, expectations, and instructional practices.
- Promote unity, harmony, and cooperation among faculty, staff, students, and families.
- Maintain a visible presence throughout the school and support the effective resolution of day-to-day and complex school matters.
- Support the Head of School and broader leadership initiatives as required.
Teaching and Learning
- Observe, supervise, coach, and support faculty in the development and implementation of high-quality teaching and learning practices.
- Lead curriculum review, implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Oversee academic programming, assessment practices, and instructional delivery to ensure alignment with school goals and educational best practices.
- Support the development of innovative, student-centered learning experiences and evidence-informed teaching practices.
- Remain current with accepted and emerging instructional research, educational theory, and best practices.
- Lead and support the implementation of Learning Visits to gather real-time evidence of learning and strengthen instructional practice across classrooms.
- Develop a culture of reflective practice through collaborative Learning Visits, coaching conversations, and evidence-informed dialogue.
- Support teachers and leaders in identifying High Impact Learning practices and using classroom evidence to inform next steps for teaching and learning.
Learning Improvement Planning and Data-Informed Practice
- Lead and support the school’s Learning Improvement Planning process through the analysis of multiple sources of evidence, including student achievement data, classroom observations, Learning Visits, and stakeholder feedback.
- Support the development, monitoring, and evaluation of measurable school improvement goals aligned with strategic priorities.
- Use evidence of learning to identify trends, inform instructional decisions, and support continuous improvement across the school community.
- Work collaboratively with school leadership teams to ensure Learning Improvement Plans are actionable, measurable, and embedded into daily practice.
- Support faculty in using assessment and learning evidence to monitor student growth and improve outcomes for all learners.
Faculty Support and Professional Growth
- Support faculty hiring, onboarding, retention, supervision, and evaluation processes in collaboration with the Head of School.
- Establish and facilitate orientation and mentoring programs for new teachers.
- Coordinate and support ongoing professional learning opportunities for faculty and staff.
- Provide guidance and coaching related to classroom management, instructional strategies, assessment, and school procedures.
- Facilitate regular faculty meetings that support communication, collaboration, and professional dialogue.
Student Learning and Academic Support
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that supports the academic, social, emotional, and developmental needs of students.
- Support student academic progress through data-informed practices and collaborative intervention planning.
- In partnership with the Learning Support Specialist, review psycho-educational assessments and coordinate appropriate student support plans.
- Work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, and grade-level teams to develop and monitor individualized student support strategies.
- Oversee academic reporting practices, student records, and systems used to monitor student achievement and growth.
- Coordinate and facilitate parent meetings and parent-teacher conferences related to student learning and support plans.
Data, Communication, and Community Engagement
- Analyze student achievement and school performance data to support continuous improvement and student growth goals.
- Communicate effectively and regularly with parents to foster strong home-school partnerships.
- Develop and maintain clear communication and documentation protocols related to academic support and student progress.
- Collaborate with the Admissions Team to evaluate the learning needs of prospective students and support admissions decisions where appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor of Education or equivalent teaching qualification required; Master’s degree in Education or related field preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within a school setting.
- Strong understanding of curriculum development, instructional leadership, assessment practices, and student support processes.
- Experience supporting faculty growth through coaching, mentoring, and professional learning.
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction, inclusive education practices, and student support planning.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze and interpret student achievement and school performance data.
