Full Job Description

Purpose:
The Assistant Resident Manager collaborates with the management team on all aspects of the residence (IRA or ICF). These responsibilities entail supervising and training the (DSP) Direct Support Professional in all residential care and treatment aspects, including the facility's safe operation.

Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 1-year experience in Behavioral Health or related field.

Special Skills:

SCIP-R, CPR, AMAP, and First Aid trained. A driver’s license is preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensures ongoing compliance and quality assurance with State and Federal regulations pertinent to the facility's operation to which he/she is assigned.
Participates in comprehensive service planning activities with outside agencies for every individual under his/her jurisdiction.
Assumes overall responsibilities for the smooth operation of the facility in the absence of the Residence Manager.
Provides coverage by the staffing schedule established by the Residence Manager, with an understanding of schedule revisions that may be necessary to meet the changing needs of the consumers.
When assigned to oversee medical services, collaborate with the site RN to monitor all medical systems, including medical appointments, consumer medical records and referrals, prescriptions, etc.
Ensure that recreation and leisure activities are planned and carried out by the individual’s choice. When assigned to oversee recreation, it ensures that staff and/or consumers have support systems in place for producing quality services, i.e., staffing, funds, and transportation.
In the absence of the Residence Manager, provide direct supervision of the Shift Supervisor, Direct Support Professional, and Vacation Relief staff assigned to the facility.
In conjunction with the Residence Manager, formulates and suggests new ideas and outcomes that are directed towards enhancing the quality of the lives of the individuals who live in the program.
Attends and completes all necessary training programs as mandated by the Residence Manager.
Monitors the timely completion of house systems, including but not limited to house maintenance, fire safety, vehicle maintenance, client funds, petty cash, and personnel files.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ensure diets and menus are followed and the nutritional needs of the consumers who live in the facility are met.
In conjunction with the Residence Manager, ensure that the consumers who reside in the home have support, services, strengths, and capabilities.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with agency policies and procedures and applicable law. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating job performance; reviewing and disciplining employees; addressing and administering disciplinary action when warranted, including addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Must make independent decisions and handle unexpected health and/or safety situations when circumstances warrant such action.
Must provide tactful and professional communication with personnel, consumers, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the public.
Must possess leadership ability and work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the program goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of the Behavioral Health department. Must have a good understanding of Behavioral Health regulations for the facility he/she has been assigned to.
Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, and the overall appearance of the facility.
You must respond to emergencies when needed outside working hours and be on call 24 hours.
Must exhibit patience, enthusiasm, and be able to work with individuals based on the maturity level at which they function.
Must adhere to additional responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Residence Manager.
Must be able to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or diagram form. In addition, we must have the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as residence safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and agency/departmental policies and procedures. I must be able to write routine reports and correspondence. Must be able to speak effectively before groups, family members, consumers, and employees of the organization.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear.
If the employee is working in a facility that includes non-ambulatory individuals, the employee must be able to transfer individuals from bed, chair, and toilet.
If the employee is working in a facility that includes aggressive individuals, the employee must complete Behavior Management/SCIP Techniques for working with aggressive individuals.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently work indoors and will be exposed to outside weather conditions.
