Position Summary
The Welder is responsible for assembling, fabricating, and repairing metal structures and equipment using various welding techniques. Our Welders read blueprints, help manufacture a variety of mirrors and visors which are used in various vehicles including buses, semi-trucks, box trucks and construction vehicles. The position requires a hands-on approach to producing quality parts safely and efficiently while maintaining required weld quality, dimensions, appearance, and production schedule
Primary Responsibilities
Welding & Fabrication

Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and specifications to determine welding requirements.

Perform manual welding using MIG, TIG, Stick, and/or Arc welding processes as required.

Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other metal components according to specifications.

Set up welding machines and select appropriate welding methods and parameters.

Fit, align, clamp, and tack components before final welding.

Operate hand tools, grinders, saws, drills, torches, and other equipment to prepare, fabricate, and finish welds.

Maintain proper weld size, penetration, alignment, and appearance.

Make adjustments to ensure parts meet specifications
Production & Operations
-
Complete assigned fabrication jobs according to the production schedule and job travelers

Meet established production quantities and cycle-time expectations
-
Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and team members to complete projects efficiently.

Identify production problems, material issues, or equipment malfunctions, and communicate them to the supervisor.

Maintain accurate production and job-completion records.
-
Minimize material waste, rework, and scrap
Quality Assurance
-
Inspect work and perform visual inspections of welds for accuracy, quality, and durability before moving parts to the next operation.

Verify dimensions and identify defects using measuring equipment such as: Tape measures, Calipers, Micrometers, Squares, & Gauges

Correct defects when authorized or stop and report work that does not meet specifications.
Equipment Maintenance & Workplace

Properly operate, maintain, and troubleshoot welding equipment and shop tools to ensure proper functionality.

Perform basic equipment checks before use.

Keep welding equipment and work areas clean and organized, maintaining proper storage of consumables and tools.

Participate in 2S/5S and continuous improvement activities.
Safety
-
Follow all company safety protocols, standard operating procedures, and welding safety guidelines.

Properly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) throughout the shift.

Maintain proper ventilation and fume-control practices.
-
Safely handle cylinders, materials, and welding equipment.
-
Follow lockout/tagout procedures when required.

Report unsafe conditions immediately to prevent workplace hazards.
Education Requirements and Skills
-
Ability to read and understand technical drawings and schematics.

Strong attention to detail and precision in welding work..
-
Certification from an accredited welding program (AWS, CWB, or equivalent preferred).

High School diploma or equivalent.

Ability to speak and understand English
Physical Requirements
-
Prolonged periods of standing or walking.
-
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

Must be able to quickly traverse manufacturing areas.

Must be able to stand, bend, squat, kneel, reach overhead, push, pull walk and stand for a long periods of time
