We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Advanced CNC Tech/Programmer to provide technical leadership, programming expertise, operator development, and process improvement support within our machining operations.
This role serves as a key resource for CNC programming, advanced troubleshooting, setup support, process optimization, and workforce development. The ideal candidate will help maximize machine utilization, improve production efficiency, support future automation initiatives, and strengthen technical support across shifts.
The successful candidate will combine strong machining expertise with a passion for mentoring others, improving processes, and driving continuous improvement throughout the department.
Key Responsibilities
CNC Programming & Process Optimization
- Create, edit, validate, and optimize CNC programs for production machining.
- Develop efficient machining strategies that improve cycle times, quality, and machine utilization.
- Troubleshoot and modify programs to resolve production challenges and improve process consistency.
- Support program prove-outs, setup validation, and production launches.
- Utilize CAM software to generate and optimize toolpaths.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts focused on throughput, efficiency, and equipment performance.
Technical Troubleshooting & Production Support
- Troubleshoot setup issues, machine alarms, tooling failures, dimensional concerns, and process instability.
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Provide advanced technical support for production teams and serve as an escalation resource for complex machining issues.
- Support production recovery efforts and help maintain consistent machine uptime.
Setup, Tooling & Fixturing
- Lead complex machine setups and first-piece validations.
- Assist with fixture development, improvements, and setup standardization.
- Optimize tooling selection, tool life, and machining performance.
- Support multi-vice setups, fixture alignment, tombstone applications, and automation-ready solutions.
Operator Training & Development
- Train and mentor operators on:
- CNC fundamentals
- G-code understanding
- Setup validation
- Tooling selection
- Offset management
- Troubleshooting techniques
- Machine recovery procedures
- Process consistency
- Develop and maintain setup sheets, work instructions, SOPs, and training documentation.
- Support cross-training initiatives and help build technical capability throughout the department.
- Promote consistency and best practices across all shifts.
Automation & Continuous Improvement
- Support implementation of advanced manufacturing and automation initiatives.
- Assist with robotic tending, probing systems, tool monitoring, pallet systems, and lights-out machining initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and maximize equipment ROI.
- Partner with production, engineering, quality, and maintenance teams to improve overall manufacturing performance.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Technical degree or certification in CNC Machining, Manufacturing Technology, Precision Machining, Tool & Die, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5–10 years of CNC programming and machining experience required.
- High-volume aluminum machining experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with Brother Speedio, Mazak, Haas, or Fanuc-based controls preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant manufacturing experience will be considered.
Skills & Core Competencies
- Advanced knowledge of CNC programming, G-code, setup procedures, and machining processes.
- Experience with CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidCAM, GibbsCAM, Esprit, or HyperMill preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Advanced setup, fixturing, and workholding experience.
- Ability to optimize tooling, cycle times, and machining performance.
- Strong understanding of offsets, cutter compensation, and macro programming.
- Experience creating and maintaining setup documentation and work instructions preferred.
- Knowledge of automation technologies, robotic tending, probing systems, or lights-out machining preferred.
- Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring abilities.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail, safety, and process consistency.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while managing multiple priorities.
