Full Job Description

Since 1910, Scouting has helped mold the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. Scouting America believes and understands that helping youth puts us on a path toward a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.

The District Executive’s primary duty is recruiting and supporting volunteer leaders to ensure the mission of Scouting is successfully delivered. The District Executive is responsible for operations and performance of a territory, including the effective organization, execution, and promotion of the council program through the leadership of volunteers. Performance is measured by the successful achievement of membership, fund development, program, and unit service campaigns with a key emphasis on volunteer recruitment and support.

Recruit, develop, and maintain effective volunteer leadership teams.
Expand Scouting programs through partnerships with community organizations.
Achieve specific goals which include program, volunteer recruitment, fundraising, and membership recruitment.
Secure funding by recruiting and leading volunteers in fundraising campaigns through annual fundraising and product sales campaigns.
Meet participation targets for camps and activities.
Ensure all program sites are supported with leader meetings, training, and activities.

Desired Skills:

Comfortable with public speaking, strong people skills, enthusiastic, reliable, and creative.
Self-motivated individual with strong time management, organization, budgeting, and planning.
Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and professionalism.
Committed to productivity and high ethical and professional standards.
Non-profit, fundraising, or sales experience is a plus.

Bachelor’s degree

Deliver timely, high-quality service through consistent communication and engagement.
Reside in or be willing to relocate to the assigned territory.
Attained 21 years of age or older unless prohibited by any applicable law.
Commit to flexible hours to meet goals.
