Full Job Description

NOT FOR PROFIT GRANT ACCOUNTING MANAGER

Grant Accounting Manager

Salary Range:

$85,000.00 to $90,000.00

Responsibilities

Ensure that the grant accounting team prepares and submits accurate and timely monthly invoices or financial reports for the federal, state and local funding agencies.
Ensure that all grant team accounting work is performed in compliance with GAAP, internal agency and grant funding guidelines and requirements.
Ensure that the grant accounting team meets all deadlines for the monthly and annual closing process.
Ensure that the grant accounting team is maintaining meticulous and organized grant invoices and financial reports.
Ensure accuracy of grant expenses and classification on the general ledger.
Ensure accuracy of accounts receivable balances in the general ledger for all grants.
Supervise and guide the grant accounting team with budget modifications.
Communicates invoice and funding agency deadlines to the grant accounting team.
Ensure that all AP checks have been printed before the month end so that expenses can be submitted in the monthly invoice for reimbursement.
Attend professional trainings, including funder trainings, in order to be informed of any changes in funders’ requirements.
Assist the Sr. Fiscal Director of Financial Reporting with the grant related audits by delegating assignments to the grant accounting team.
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Sr. Fiscal Director of Financial Reporting.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a minimum of 5 years of non-profit grant accounting experience.
Supervisory experience.
Previous non-profit fiscal experience working with Federal, NYS, NYC and private grants.
Experience reviewing grant funded invoices and financial reports.
Experience with Passport, Payment Management System, SMS/OTDA.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Fund EZ.
Advanced knowledge and experience with spreadsheets.
Ability to work independently, meet aggressive deadlines, prioritize and manage multiple assignments.
Ability to follow through on work assignments.
Ability to collaborate with other members of the team.
Ability to run and understand financial reports.
Ability to explain financial data and concepts to non-financial staff.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Able to embrace and manage change.
Stay abreast on changes in grant accounting standards and best practices.
Attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
Highly motivated and results driven.
