Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Distribution Center Manager to lead our Houston warehouse location.

The primary role of the Distribution Center Manager is to lead and manage the overall operations of that Facility. This includes three critical areas within Operations: Distribution, Safety, and Facility Management. The Distribution Manager drives operational and service excellence at the location and is viewed as the "ambassador" of our company in that region to both internal and external customers.

Duties

The Distribution Center Manager sets the standard for performance for his/her team.

Ensures that each employee understands his/her roles, responsibilities, and expectations
Drives operational and service excellence according to established measures, KPI's and benchmarks
Develops the team; engaged leadership providing constructive coaching and guidance consistently
Understand the systems and procedures for directing the daily activity of the facility including order entry, shipping and receiving
Knowledgeable about the products VTC sells and how those products can be utilized
Daily and monthly reporting on facility performance based on company standard reports for key metrics, measures, and KPI's
Participation in periodic business reviews and planning sessions
Systematically interfaces with customers either on own and/or with Sales staff and Management for relationship building, service delivery issue resolution, sales growth opportunities, etc.
Facility workload is managed efficiently and effectively
Lead an organization of 13+ full-time hourly associates

Warehouse/Distribution

The warehouse/distribution function is an essential Operations function within VTC’s respective branches. The distribution center manager has overall responsibility for warehouse/distribution, typically working as the warehouse leader for the branch.

Creating an operational and service-excellence culture
Ensures the warehouse function is managed properly: shipping/receiving, inventory management, truck routes, will call, etc.
Maintenance of physical condition of facility and equipment
Ensure operation complies with DOT and OSHA regulations
Ensures the team utilizes systems, processes, and procedures which maximize employee productivity and efficiency while delivering excellent customer service to internal and external customers

Safety/Facility Management

Ensures that all warehouse and distribution employees are adhering to our company safety program
Performs monthly safety audit of facility
Ensures safety meetings, near miss forms, daily checklists, and all other monthly/daily safety related tasks are performed at the facility
Embodies company’s “Safety First” culture
Manage yearly operating expense budget and capital expense budget for facility

EXPERIENCE

5+ years of experience in operational function such as branch management, customer service, supply chain, warehouse management etc.
3+ years of direct management experience of salaried and/or hourly associates
Experience in applying formal methodologies (e.g. Lean/Sigma) to improve business outcomes
Experience with working in a cross-functional team environment
