About the role

Unleash Prosperity Now was founded by Arthur Laffer, Steve Forbes, and Stephen Moore to advance free markets, economic opportunity, and pro-growth policy across the United States. We are small, we move fast, and we punch well above our weight — in the last year we've hosted a reception in the Treasury Cash Room celebrating the Working Families Tax Cuts, convened the Prosperity 250 Summit, and put economic research in front of Cabinet officials, White House staff, and the editorial pages of the Wall Street Journal.

We are hiring a Special Assistant to the Executive Director: a sharp, energetic self-starter who will be in the room where this work happens.

This is not a back-office job. You will work directly with our Executive Director and alongside our co-founders. You will help stage events with senior administration officials. You will see how economic policy actually gets made — who gets called, what gets written, how an idea becomes a bill. And you will take on more the moment you prove you can handle it.

What you'll do

Work directly with the Executive Director as her right hand — managing her calendar, priorities, correspondence, and follow-through.
Help produce our events, from intimate policy roundtables to receptions with Cabinet-level speakers: guest lists, invitations, materials, run-of-show, day-of execution.
Draft and manage communications with donors, coalition partners, Hill and administration offices, and press.
Coordinate travel and logistics for the team and our principals, and travel within the U.S. for major events.
Keep our systems organized and current — calendars, email, documents, spreadsheets, and our contact and donor databases.
Take ownership of whatever needs owning as priorities shift. In an organization this size, the person who steps forward gets the portfolio.

You take initiative and follow through. You don't need to be asked twice, and you close loops without being chased.
You're personable and confident with anyone. You can hold your own with a member of Congress, a major donor, and a caterer in the same afternoon.
You're quick. You pick up new tools, new subjects, and new expectations fast, and you're hungry for more responsibility.
You're mission-driven. You share our commitment to free markets and economic opportunity, and you're genuinely curious about economic policy — you want to learn this world, not just work in it.
You're comfortable with technology. Calendar and email management, Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, and a willingness to learn whatever else we throw at you.
You're flexible. This role includes occasional evenings, weekends, and domestic travel around our event calendar.

Prior experience is welcome but not required. We care far more about how fast you learn and how hard you close.

Where this goes

Our team is small enough that this role becomes whatever you make of it. A Special Assistant who masters the operations side can grow into events, communications, coalition work, or development. We would rather promote you than replace you.

Details

Location: Hybrid, split between Washington, DC and Montgomery County, Maryland, depending on the week's schedule. You should be based in the DC metro area with reliable transportation and the flexibility to work from either location on short notice.
Schedule: Full-time, with occasional evenings, weekends, and domestic travel.
