After operating independently and as a mutual insurance company for most of its existence, MLMIC was purchased by Berkshire Hathaway in the fall of 2018.
We continue to be the most significant writer of professional medical liability insurance in the State of New York. We provide insurance for physicians, NPs, PAs, dentists, and hospitals.

Experience:
- 5 years Property – Casualty Insurance experience in insurance product development, or underwriting with filing experience, required. Medical Malpractice preferred.
Responsibilities
This position is responsible for drafting and revision of policy forms and endorsements, supporting the overall design, development, enhancement and maintenance of insurance products. This includes conducting research and analysis of insurance products, producing reports, monitoring and analyzing changes in competitive filings and products, performing tasks related to regulatory compliance for products, communicates updates, maintenance of underwriting product reference manuals, and other documentation.
· Responsible for drafting and revision of policy forms and endorsements.
· Conduct detailed analysis of insurance products, including policy forms, endorsements, rating structures, and underwriting rules.
· Conduct market research to identify trends in coverage, limits structures, and emerging exposures; and analysis of insurance products (forms, rules, rates).
· Provide insights and reporting to underwriting and leadership teams to inform product strategy including monitoring product performance, underwriting trends, loss or exposure patterns, competitor activity, and emerging risks to recommend product enhancements.
· Produces reports (underwriting and policy reports, data calls reports and others)
· Monitor and analyze competitor filings, product offerings, and rate changes.
· Performs tasks related to regulatory compliance for products, including support the preparation, submission, and tracking of rate, rule, and form filings (e.g., SERFF).
· Review regulatory changes and assist in identifying the impact on existing products and future development.
· Prepare and maintain filings, including explanatory memoranda, exhibits, regulatory checklists, responses, and related documentation.
· Manage product development and filing-related projects, including tracking deliverables, timelines, Coordinate cross-functional input, and approvals
· Involved in the implementation and validation of changes to ensure accurate implementation in systems, workflows, manuals, forms, rates, and rules.
· Participate in process improvement initiatives related to product development and filing efficiency
· Prepare internal bulletins, guidance, training materials, or communications to support rollout of product changes.
· Assist in maintaining/updating product reference manuals, including form inventories and other documentation.
· Other duties assigned.
Education and Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in insurance, Risk Management, Business or related field, required.
· 5 Years Property – Casualty Insurance Experience in insurance product development, or underwriting with filing experience, required. Medical Malpractice preferred.
· Experience with State regulatory frameworks, preferably including New York
· Expert understanding of Insurance policy structure (forms, endorsements, rates, rules)
· Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret data and market trends
· Project management experience and skills
· Strong communication and organizational skills, particularly written communication skills in policy language and documentation
· Experience using SERFF filing processes
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools
Training, Certification, License:
Progress toward or completion of insurance designations (e.g., CPCU, RPLU, ARM)

Salary Range: $96,000.00 - $149,300.00
The salary range displayed represents the entirety of the pay grade for this position. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have, your location and a comparison to other team members already in this role.
