POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical Biller & Receptionist is a dual-role position critical to the efficient functioning of our wellness practice. This role combines responsibilities in medical billing, ensuring accuracy in claims and compliance with regulations, with key administrative duties to support daily operations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about providing outstanding service to both patients and the team. By managing billing processes and administrative tasks, the Medical Biller & Receptionist contributes directly to the financial health and smooth operation of the clinic.

OBJECTIVES

Accurately process and submit medical billing claims to BCBS.
Utilize ICD-10, ICD-9, and other systems to ensure correct diagnoses and procedure codes are utilized.
Review patient records for completeness and accuracy before claim submission to ensure error-free processing.
Follow up on unpaid claims, address discrepancies, and work with insurance providers to resolve issues promptly.
Maintain a thorough understanding of CPT codes to optimize reimbursement and ensure compliance.
Communicate effectively with healthcare providers to clarify billing inquiries and obtain necessary documentation.
Ensure compliance with all medical billing regulations, standards, and practices.
Prepare invoices, process payments, and manage patient account records.
Assist in medical collections by contacting patients regarding outstanding balances and providing clear payment information.
Manage administrative tasks, including scheduling patient appointments, handling phone inquiries, maintaining clinic records, and providing excellent customer service.
Sanitize tools and maintain clinic cleanliness to meet health and safety standards.
Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams to ensure a seamless patient experience.
Support the clinic’s mission, vision, and core values through daily actions and decisions.

COMPETENCIES

Knowledge of medical billing practices, including ICD-10, ICD-9, and CPT coding systems, with a solid grasp of medical terminology and procedures.
Strong organizational skills, attention to details, and the ability to review records and claims with precision to minimize errors and ensure accuracy.
Ability to resolve billing discrepancies and unpaid claims by working collaboratively with insurance providers and patients.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients.
Experience working in a dynamic medical office setting, with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment to support the clinic’s operations.
Exceptional interpersonal skills for managing patient inquiries and providing support regarding billing, payments, and appointments.
Commitment to staying informed about medical billing regulations and standards to ensure compliance and optimize clinic operations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical billing is required.
Familiarity with medical coding systems, including ICD-10, ICD-9, and CPT coding.
Experience working in a holistic healthcare setting is advantageous.
Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures is essential.
Proficiency in using medical billing software and systems is required.
High school diploma or equivalent is required; additional certifications or training in medical billing are a plus.

SCHEDULE:

Monday-Thursday 7:45 AM-3PM, Friday 8/9-12/1PM
Saturdays as needed (very occasionally)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to sit, stand, and move around the clinic for extended periods.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs of equipment or supplies occasionally.
Regular use of a computer and office equipment is required.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
