Full Job Description

Status: Non-Exempt

Purpose: Provide consumer training and assistance in daily living skills.

Essential Functions:

Provide direct care and supervision to consumers as indicated/needed to assure health and safety.

Provide training or assistance to consumers in accordance with Individual Program Plans, in such areas as daily living skills and recreational activities.

Assist residents in meal planning, shopping and preparation in accordance with menus and specified diets.

Assist consumers:

With administration or self-administration of medication, documenting all required medication information.

With maintaining a safe and sanitary facility.

With grooming and hygiene.

In times of illness and injury.

Document all training activities.

Transport consumers as required.

Detect and respond to emergencies, changes in health or behavior, and to the on-going, day-to-day needs of consumers.

Provide for the clean, safe operation of the work setting and contents/property contained therein, including providing care, clean-up and supervision of any facility pets/animals.

Provide for the care and management of company livestock/pets and company garden/greenhouse when working in the Day Habilitation Program.

Maintain a current CPR card.

Other duties as assigned/required.

Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required, OR satisfactorily complete new employee orientation written and return demonstration testing..

Experience/Knowledge/Skills:

None required- 6 months related field experience preferred, must be able to master & demonstrate competence in all new employee orientation units.
Valid, unrestricted Texas Driver’s License required and acceptable driving record within company insurance guidelines.
Must obtain CPR certification within 1 month of hire and maintain current CPR certification while employed.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift or support approximately 75 lbs either assisted or unassisted. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time up to and including 8 hours. Must be able to stoop, bend and reach overhead without restriction. Must be able to detect and respond to emergencies and changes in health or behavior. Must be able to complete full evacuation of the assigned facility/work setting within established parameters. Must be able to perform an emergency physical restraint of a consumer. Must be able to complete CPR.

Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour
