Kalamazoo Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (KOMS) is seeking a friendly, organized, and customer-focused Patient Care Coordinator to join our growing practice.

Our administrative team is the first and last impression our patients experience. We are looking for someone who enjoys helping people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in providing exceptional customer service while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in healthcare, dental, medical, or customer service settings who enjoy working as part of a collaborative team.

Position Summary

The Patient Care Coordinator performs a variety of administrative responsibilities to ensure an exceptional patient experience from the first phone call through checkout. Team members are cross-trained and may rotate through multiple administrative functions based on practice needs.

Primary Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

Welcome patients and provide a warm, professional first impression
Check patients in and verify demographic and insurance information
Collect required forms, signatures, and patient documentation
Schedule consultations, surgical procedures, and follow-up appointments
Verify dental and medical insurance benefits
Obtain insurance authorizations and document patient benefits
Review treatment plans and communicate financial information to patients
Process patient check-out and schedule future appointments
Answer incoming phone calls and assist patients with questions
Coordinate referrals and communicate with referring dental offices
Maintain accurate electronic medical records
Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure efficient patient flow
Perform additional administrative duties as assigned

Experience in a dental, oral surgery, orthodontic, medical, or specialty healthcare office preferred
Experience with scheduling and insurance verification
Knowledge of dental and/or medical insurance benefits
Strong computer and keyboarding skills
Experience using electronic health record or practice management software is a plus
