Full Job Description

Position Summary

Bloomingdale Communications is seeking a motivated and technically minded Level 1 Technical Support Specialist to join our Network Operations team.

This is an entry-level technical position responsible for providing first-line support to our internet and voice customers. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys solving problems, communicates well with customers, is comfortable working with technology, and wants to continue developing their technical skills.

Previous telecommunications or networking experience is helpful but not required. We are willing to train the right person who demonstrates strong troubleshooting ability, reliability, professionalism, and a desire to learn.

Primary Responsibilities

Provide Level 1 technical support for residential and business internet and voice services.
Assist customers by phone and through other support channels with connectivity, Wi-Fi, equipment, and service-related issues.
Troubleshoot common internet connectivity problems using established procedures and diagnostic tools.
Assist customers with Wi-Fi connectivity, wireless devices, routers, ONTs, and other customer-premises equipment.
Identify whether service issues originate with the customer's equipment, in-home network, BCI equipment, or the BCI network.
Perform basic troubleshooting of voice and telephone services.
Use network management and customer-support systems to review equipment status, signal information, service configuration, and other diagnostic information.
Accurately document customer contacts, troubleshooting performed, findings, and resolutions.
Create and escalate trouble tickets to Level 2 Support, Network Engineering, or field technicians when an issue cannot be resolved at Level 1.
Gather the necessary technical information before escalating an issue so higher-level support personnel can efficiently continue troubleshooting.
Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, coworkers, technicians, and other departments.
Follow established troubleshooting, escalation, security, and customer privacy procedures.
Assist with equipment provisioning, replacement, and basic configuration as training and experience progress.
Participate in training and continually develop knowledge of networking, Wi-Fi, fiber-optic broadband, voice services, and BCI systems.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

A willingness to learn and accept coaching and technical training.

Preferred Qualifications

The following experience is helpful but not required:

Previous technical support, help desk, ISP, telecommunications, or IT experience.
Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking.
Familiarity with Wi-Fi and home networking.
Experience troubleshooting routers, computers, mobile devices, or other network-connected equipment.
Familiarity with fiber-optic internet or telecommunications services.
Experience working with ticketing, customer management, or network management systems.

Physical Requirements

This position may occasionally require handling and moving telecommunications or computer equipment.

Candidates must be able to:

Lift up to 50 pounds from ground level to overhead.
Bend, kneel, reach, and work around telecommunications and computer equipment as necessary.
Safely move, unpack, install, or organize network and customer-premises equipment.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Technical education, industry certifications, college coursework, military technical experience, or equivalent hands-on experience in networking, telecommunications, electronics, or information technology is preferred but not required.
