Reporting to the department chair or sculpture faculty of the Art and Art History department, this part-time position is approximately 10 hours per week over three eleven-week academic terms. The three shifts per week are Monday and Wednesday evenings, and Sunday afternoons.

Nature of Duties:
- Woodshop technician for college art department. Primary responsibility is instructing students in the safe use of woodshop equipment.
- Monitor shop open hours to ensure safe use of woodshop equipment.
- Coordinate and facilitate woodshop practicums for art students, including a series of short workshops covering basic skills and technical exercises.
- Monitor condition of equipment; facilitate equipment maintenance and repairs; make arrangements for outside repairs when necessary.
- Secondary responsibilities include organization of equipment and supplies in the sculpture area.
- Facilitate the pick-up of materials for classes shop, as time allows.
- Assist with art department projects as time allows.
Qualification requirements
The successful candidate will have a high school diploma (or equivalent), and will also demonstrate many, but necessarily all, of the following skills, abilities, and characteristics. If you think your skillset could contribute to our departmental program, please still apply.
- Extensive woodworking experience and knowledge of current safety standards and practices required.
- Art background and/or education preferred.
- Ability to effectively instruct students with a wide range of skill levels required.
- Familiarity with welding and/or ceramics desirable, but not required.
- Some college education strongly preferred.
