Operations Manager

About the Role

Glacier Power Solutions is a growing electrical contractor specializing in standby generators, off-grid power systems and solar based in Kalispell, Montana.

We are seeking a hands-on Operations Manager to lead our day-to-day operations and lead a growing team of field and office employees.

This position is responsible for ensuring installations and service projects are properly prepared, scheduled, staffed, and completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. The Operations Manager will lead field and office staff, improve operational systems, control costs, resolve problems, and make customer satisfaction a top priority.

Key Responsibilities

Manage daily installation and service operations, including scheduling, crew assignments, priorities, and workflow.
Schedule the appropriate employees, subcontractors, vehicles, equipment, and other resources needed to complete each project efficiently.
Ensure jobs are fully prepared before crews are dispatched, including materials, equipment, permits, drawings, site information, and customer coordination.
Arrange Montana 811/UDig utility locates, rental equipment, inspections, utility coordination, subcontractors, deliveries, and other project requirements.
Lead, coach, and hold accountable electricians, installers, service technicians, apprentices, laborers, and support staff.
Set clear expectations for productivity, workmanship, punctuality, communication, safety, and customer service.
Monitor active projects and resolve scheduling, staffing, material, equipment, customer, and field-related issues.
Maintain customer satisfaction as a top operational priority from scheduling through project completion.
Ensure customers receive clear and timely communication regarding schedules, delays, project status, and next steps.
Handle customer concerns promptly and professionally, working to resolve issues before they escalate.
Coordinate with sales when project scope, pricing, or customer expectations require clarification.
Improve processes to increase efficiency, reduce avoidable costs, and support consistent quality.
Establish consistent systems for scheduling, job handoffs, team communication, accountability, and follow-up.
Track labor hours, overtime, job progress, productivity, job costs, callbacks, customer issues, and other operational performance indicators.
Oversee inventory, purchasing, vendors, warehouse organization, vehicles, trailers, tools, rental equipment, and company assets.
Ensure completed jobs include proper testing, photographs, documentation, customer walkthroughs, and closeout requirements.
Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, employee development, performance management, and staffing decisions.
Support compliance with company policies, safety requirements, electrical codes, licensing requirements, manufacturer standards, and applicable regulations.
Identify and implement cost-control and efficiency improvements without sacrificing quality, safety, customer satisfaction, or team culture.
Identify recurring problems, determine their root causes, and implement practical long-term solutions.
Make recommendations to the General Manager and ownership regarding staffing, equipment, systems, processes, cost control, customer service, and other operational improvements.
Escalate only matters that genuinely require senior management involvement.
Provide clear and accurate operational updates and reporting to the General Manager.

Qualifications

Previous operations-management or field-management experience in electrical contracting, construction, field service, skilled trades, or a related industry.
Demonstrated experience leading employees and managing multiple crews, projects, and priorities.
Strong scheduling, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to coordinate employees, subcontractors, equipment, materials, inspections, and project logistics.
Ability to coach employees, set expectations, provide feedback, and hold people accountable.
Strong commitment to customer satisfaction and professional communication.
Understanding of labor productivity, job costing, inventory control, purchasing, and operational profitability.
Ability to create practical processes and systems that employees can understand and consistently follow.
Comfortable using scheduling software, CRM systems, spreadsheets, accounting software, and other business-management tools.
Calm and adaptable under pressure, with the ability to respond to changing priorities without creating unnecessary disruption.
Willingness to work in both the office and the field as needed.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Electrical, generator, construction, or skilled-trades experience is strongly preferred. Candidates with exceptional leadership and relevant field-service operations experience will also be considered.

We are looking for someone who wants to take ownership of operations—not simply coordinate tasks or pass problems along to senior management.

Schedule

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Kalispell, Montana. The normal schedule is Monday through Friday. Occasional early mornings, extended hours, or after-hours availability may be required based on installation and service needs.
