As a result of our anticipated growth, we are seeking to identify and hire hard working and dedicated individuals to fill Class A CDL drivers. The CDL Driver positions are described below.
Position: Class A CDL Driver
Reports to: Foreman
Classification: Non-Exempt
Key Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Will be responsible for the transportation of materials such as rock, dirt, compost, silage, as well as equipment of all types to and from work sites, which may include but is not limited to solar farms, oil fields and other construction sites;
Will conduct daily pre-trip visual inspections of trucks to ensure functionality and safety, and complete associated computerized daily inspection reports as required by DOT standards and to comply with company guidelines;
Follow all company policies and procedures, including HSE.
Safely load, unload and properly secure equipment and materials being hauled;
Keep accurate logs utilizing our digital system for timecards and logs for hours of service in order to remain in compliance with DOT regulations;
Maintain and keep truck or other assigned vehicle clean and in orderly condition – job will require washing and cleaning of trucks and vehicles;
As assigned, serve as a trainer or mentor for new crew members in the safe operation of company trucks and equipment;
Make minor repairs to trucks and trailers such as changing lights, mud flaps and maintain proper air pressure in all tires;
Will need to be able to diagnose BASIC truck issues for guidance on repair or referral for mechanical maintenance;
As needed, perform tasks involving physical labor, including such things as identifying, loading, and unloading materials, machinery, and tools needed based on job specifications, and distributing them to the appropriate work locations as directed;
Follow safety procedures and precautions to prevent accidents or injuries to others and equipment;
Wear all PPE (personal protective equipment) in designated production areas and job sites as mandated by OSHA, and company and client guidelines;
Other duties as assigned based on business needs of the company and our clients.
General Requirements Needed:
Must have valid Class A CDL license with a clean, safe driving record with ability to successfully pass MVR (required); (Current HE employees without CDL will be considered, but must be able to obtain license through our training program in the first 3 months of the position.)
High School Diploma/GED preferred but not required;
Ability to work as a part of a team and assist co-workers and supervisors, as well as work independently with attention to detail;
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions;
Must be able to communicate effectively in both writing and verbally, with supervisors, teammates and clients;
Must be able to operate safely and efficiently under a variety of working conditions; and carefully follow safety protocols and company procedures, including DOT rules and regulations (required);
Excellent work ethic with willingness to work long, physical hours as jobs demand (required);
Ability to work under pressure on tight deadlines (required);
Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times, and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (required); and
Knowledge of and ability to use current and developing technologies including such things as GPS, mobile phones, IPads and computers (required).
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this Job, must be able to work in all types of weather, including extreme cold and extreme heat for extensive periods of time. On job sites, the employee is sometimes exposed to wet or humid conditions; dust/dirt, fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals; and the noise level in the work environment is loud. The employee is frequently exposed to work on or near moving mechanical parts and vibration, sometimes in rough riding vehicles and trucks over rough terrain.
Physical Demands:
The employee may be required to manually lift and/or move 25-50 pounds frequently and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. The employee must be physically capable and coordinated to use and to operate the controls, by both foot and hand, that are a part of various trucks and equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include both near and distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, as well as the ability to focus. Must be able to see, read and interpret traffic signs and safety signals while driving. Must be able to drive at night. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time. The employee is frequently required to walk; bend, twist, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
Safety Sensitive Position:
While performing the duties of this Job, all work tasks are considered safety sensitive. Safety sensitive means a job wherein an accident/incident could cause loss of human life, serious bodily injury, or significant property or environmental damage, including a job with duties that include immediate supervision of another person.
Other Information:
Normal working hours may vary between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (depending on project requirements), with frequent overtime transporting materials to and from projects that have operations extending over weekends. Schedule may sometimes involve 6-7 days per week of work as the project demands;
Some driver positions will require the ability to travel overnight to locations located anywhere within the contiguous United States.
Per Diem provided for expenses while traveling overnight, and work-related travel is paid by company.
Salary and Benefits:
Anticipated Hiring Wage Range: $24-$34 per hour based on experience;
