Full Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Specialist in Collections and Receivable Accounts to join our Transportation Trucking company. This role is vital in managing the company's accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely collections, and maintaining accurate financial records. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent negotiation skills, and proficiency with various financial software. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial health of our organization while developing your expertise in corporate accounting and revenue cycle management.

Duties

Manage and monitor accounts receivable portfolios to ensure prompt collection of outstanding balances
Contact customers via phone, email, or written correspondence to follow up on overdue payments and negotiate payment arrangements
Reconcile customer accounts regularly to identify discrepancies and resolve billing issues efficiently
Process journal entries, account adjustments, and write-offs in accordance with company policies and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms to record transactions accurately
Assist with month-end closing activities, including account analysis and reconciliation of receivable accounts
Support compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls by maintaining thorough documentation of collection activities and account adjustments

Skills

Strong knowledge of accounting concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and journal entries
Proficiency with financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or equivalent systems
Familiarity with medical billing, CPT coding, ICD-10 coding standards, and revenue cycle management in healthcare settings is a plus
Excellent negotiation and customer service skills to handle sensitive collection conversations professionally
Ability to analyze financial data accurately using analysis skills and account reconciliation techniques
Knowledge of governmental accounting standards and non-profit accounting practices is advantageous
Strong data entry skills including 10 key typing accuracy and attention to detail in bookkeeping tasks
Understanding of financial concepts related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and corporate accounting workflows
Effective phone etiquette combined with clear communication skills for engaging with clients and internal teams
Experience with technical accounting procedures such as journal entries, revenue recognition, and audit compliance
