Full Job Description

The Wardlaw+Hartridge School, located in Edison, New Jersey, seeks an experienced Director of Auxiliary Programs to begin immediately.

We are looking for a collegial, engaging individual to serve as our next Director of Auxiliary

Programs. This is a full time, twelve-month position responsible for non-academic school activities including extended care and after-school programs, summer school, summer camp, and oversight of transportation coordinator. Responsibilities include hiring, supervising, and evaluating staff, contracting vendors, scheduling, developing programs, marketing and communications. The Director of Auxiliary Programs reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

The successful candidate will be comfortable wearing many hats, embracing the opportunity to grow and expand their skills in a dynamic, fast-paced organization. Candidates who will contribute to the vibrant diversity of our community are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications:

Superb organizational, budgeting, and analytical skills

Ability to develop engaging presentations to students/families
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and a collaborative working style
Ability to look at situations from several points of view and creatively problem-solve on the fly
Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed
Strong work-ethic and desire to help wherever and whenever needed to make the school
successful 3 years of camp experience/teaching experience
Experience working with children aged 3-13
Entrepreneurial spirit, with a drive to develop new programs and new solutions to meet
community needs and balance budget goal

Salary: 80-125k

This job operates on a 12-month calendar. Evening and weekend hours are often needed/required

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

After School and Summer Programs

Develop program offerings and oversee registration process for afterschool programs,
summer programs (summer camp and summer school), faculty child care, and Spring Break
Camp.
Develop and monitor budgets for afterschool, summer, and Spring Break programs.
Hire, train, and supervise staff and vendors for all programs
Submit payroll on a timely basis and any invoices that need to be paid
Manage daily operations for all programs
Maintain after school and summer program website
Manage the billing process for all programs
Responsible for obtaining Department of Health licensing for summer programs and adhering to all mandatory standards and requirements
Collaborate with the Director of Communications and Marketing to promote Program
marketing, and parent communication
Work with parents and other members of the administrative team to establish student
expectations and norms.
Answer parent emails and phone calls in a courteous and professional manner, maintain
appropriate communication standards and documentation
Substitute for Extended Day staff during the day or after school as needed
Communicate with parents and vendors to respond to questions and uphold school policies.
Explore new program offerings and initiatives to generate additional revenue and help grow the programs.

Transportation (oversight)

Provide direct oversight of the transportation coordinator who works with partnered bus
companies to create daily transportation routes based on student needs and interest
Serve as back up transportation coordinator as may be needed.
Textbooks and other operational functions
Order textbooks for all divisions based on teachers’ needs and department head approvals
Be the liaison for the MOESC regarding any books purchased with state funds
Manage and oversee the online BNC K-12 student textbook store with upper school office
support
Help crisis management team and administrative leaders during school drills
Understand and support W+H mission, vision, and core values and promote a positive image of the school
Undertake other program related and administrative tasks as assigned by the CFO or Head of School

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Occasionally lift - up to 20 pounds
Generally works in standard office conditions and environment, but may also work in the
classroom and outside on the playground and fields
May work at a desk and on a computer for extended periods of time
May stand for extended periods of time
