LINE COOKS & PREP COOKSSEQUOIA RESTAURANT | WASHINGTON, DC

Sequoia Restaurant in Washington, DC is seeking experienced, motivated Line Cooks and Prep Cooks to join our culinary team.

We are looking for kitchen professionals who take genuine pride in their craft. The ideal candidates understand that a successful kitchen depends on quality, consistency, preparation, organization, cleanliness, communication, and teamwork.

Sequoia is a high-volume restaurant with high standards. We are looking for cooks who can work with a sense of urgency while never sacrificing the quality and presentation of the food we serve.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Minimum 2 years of relevant professional kitchen experience preferred
Experience in a high-volume, upscale or fine dining restaurant is strongly preferred
Strong basic culinary skills and understanding of professional cooking techniques
Ability to properly execute recipes and follow established preparation standards
Commitment to quality and consistency on every plate
Strong knife skills and proper food-handling techniques
Understanding of proper cooking temperatures, seasoning, portioning, and presentation
Ability to accurately complete daily prep lists
Strong organizational skills and disciplined mise en place
Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked station
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, storage, labeling, and rotation procedures
Understanding of proper FIFO procedures and minimizing food waste
Ability to work efficiently and calmly during busy services
Strong sense of urgency without sacrificing accuracy or quality
Ability to communicate effectively with chefs, managers, and fellow kitchen team members
Willingness to assist other stations and support the entire kitchen when needed
Dependable, punctual, professional, and prepared for every shift
Ability to take direction and respond positively to coaching and feedback
Desire to continually improve culinary knowledge and technical skills
Most importantly, a strong work ethic and pride in the food you produce
