Full Job Description

JOB TITLE: Assistant Clinical Manager

REPORTS TO: Clinical Manager

Summary:

The Assistant Clinical Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations, development, compliance, and performance of their departments in collaboration and at the direction of the Clinical Manager. The Assistant Clinical Manager will manage their teams, working closely with the providers, the Clinical Manager and leadership to drive continuous excellence and improvements to outcomes in patient care. This position will manage staff at multiple sites in the South Puget Sound area and will require frequent travel.

Requirements:

Valid Washington State RN License
Minimum of three years of related supervisory experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Outpatient oncology experience is preferred

Qualifications:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in Oncology.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving/ critical thinking skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Provide onsite day-to-day management of the staff.
In collaboration with the Clinical Manager, will oversee departmental responsibilities such as process improvement initiatives, clinical compliance, and risk management.
Responsible for the supervision, evaluation, training, and performance management of staff within their departments.
Regular ongoing meetings with assigned departments for ongoing feedback and support.
Provides regular updates to the Clinical Manager regarding the status of their assigned areas.
Collaborates with Clinical Manager and leadership for the implementation of new programs, services, service lines, and accrediting processes.
In collaboration with the Clinical Manager, guides adherence to clinical policies, procedures, and objectives including their adequate execution, compliance, and updates.
Ensure adherence to legal requirements and government reporting regulations.
Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with outside providers to facilitate timely patient care collaboration between NWMS and other entities.
Helps staff adhere to various accreditation standards: QOPI, ACHC, NCQA and/or COC
Manage daily staffing to ensure adequate support for patient care operations and adherence to internal policies for time off.
Maintains the strictest confidentiality of protected employee information as required by law.
Serve as hiring manager for employees within assigned departments by coordinating/ participating in interviews, adhering to federal, local, and internal guidance for equal opportunity employment, and by providing objective feedback about candidates to support informed hiring decisions.
Manage licensed staff by ensuring maintenance of licensure with applicable agencies as required for their roles.
Maintain active certifications and provide demonstrations, training, and guidance about clinical skills for administration of infusion drugs, injections, and other applicable procedures to staff as needed for initial and refresher training.
Provide backup clinical support when needed. This includes covering infusion nurse/ supervisor roles.
Investigate patient complaints and provide timely service recovery.
Perform other duties as assigned.
