The Fire Place is hiring a Skilled Remodeling Carpenter for fireplace, hearth, chimney, outdoor living, and specialty home remodeling projects in the Louisville area.
This is a full-time position for a hands-on tradesperson who takes pride in clean, professional work inside customers’ homes and outdoor living spaces. The right person may have experience in carpentry, remodeling, finish work, masonry, tile, drywall, fireplace installation, outdoor kitchens, firepits, or general residential construction.
You do not need to already be a fireplace expert. We can train the right person on our products, processes, and installation standards. What we need is someone with real hands-on skill, good judgment, pride in their work, and the ability to communicate professionally.
Pay & Benefits
Pay Range: $60,000–$100,000+ per year, based on skill level, experience, and qualifications

What You’ll Do
As part of The Fire Place installation team, you will help complete fireplace, hearth, chimney, outdoor living, and specialty home remodeling projects from start to finish.
Work may include:
· Fireplace and hearth installation projects
· Mantels, surrounds, trim, framing, and finish carpentry
· Outdoor firepits, outdoor kitchens, grill islands, and related outdoor living projects
· Stone, brick, veneer, tile, and masonry-related work
· Chimney caps, chase covers, hearth materials, and related fireplace components
· Firebox repair, hearth masonry, tuckpointing, parging, and chimney restoration support
· Drywall repair, patching, and finish details
· Demolition, layout, prep work, installation, and final cleanup
· Coordination with managers, office staff, helpers, and customers
You will be expected to:
· Perform high-quality installation and remodeling work in residential homes
· Work safely on ladders, roofs, scaffolding, and elevated surfaces
· Read job notes, measurements, photos, work orders, and installation instructions
· Plan daily work and identify materials needed before they become a problem
· Keep job sites clean, safe, and organized
· Communicate professionally with homeowners and team members
· Provide clear updates on job progress, issues, materials, and scheduling needs
· Make sound field decisions when conditions change
· Know when to solve a problem and when to involve management
· Follow company standards and installation procedures
Experience That May Be a Good Fit
This position may be a great fit if you have experience in one or more of the following areas:
· Remodeling carpentry
· Finish carpentry
· Rough carpentry and framing
· Tile installation
· Masonry, brick, block, stone, or veneer work
· Outdoor kitchens or outdoor living projects
· Firepits, grill islands, or hardscape construction
· Drywall hanging, patching, and finishing
· General remodeling
· Residential construction
· Fireplace, stove, insert, or appliance installation
· Venting, ducting, or chimney-related work
· Roofing, flashing, or exterior repair
· Crew leadership or field supervision
· Skilled handyman or multi-trade home improvement work
Fireplace-specific experience is helpful, but it is not required for the right experienced tradesperson.

Requirements
· Strong hands-on construction, remodeling, carpentry, masonry, or installation experience
· Valid driver’s license
· Ability to work safely on roofs, ladders, scaffolding, and elevated surfaces
· Ability to use common construction tools safely and professionally
· Ability to read job notes, measurements, photos, work orders, and installation instructions
· Ability to lift, carry, bend, climb, and work in various jobsite conditions
· Willingness to learn fireplace products, hearth systems, chimney components, outdoor fire features, and company installation procedures
· Professional appearance and customer-friendly attitude
· Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
· Ability to pass company hiring requirements
Preferred, But Not Required
· Experience leading a helper, apprentice, small crew, or subcontractor team
· Fireplace, chimney, hearth, or outdoor kitchen experience
· Firebox repair or rebuilding experience
· Chimney brick or tile liner repair/rebuilding experience
· Tuckpointing, parging, brick repair, chimney crown, or masonry restoration experience
· Mantel, hearth, surround, or finish carpentry experience
· Gas appliance, venting, or mechanical installation experience
· CSIA, NFI, OSHA, manufacturer, or trade-related training
