Full Job Description

Correctional Licensed Psychiatric Tech (LPT) - San Diego, CA | $1,870 - $2,242/Week

Location: San Diego, CA
Contract Length: 6-month renewable contract
Schedule: 5x8s
Shift: AM 6:00 AM-2:30 PM | PM 2:00 PM-10:30 PM
Pay Rate: $46.75/hr - $56.05/hr (All Inclusive)

About the Role
We are seeking a dependable, patient-centered Licensed Psychiatric Tech (LPT) to provide high-quality nursing care within a secure correctional healthcare environment in Tehachapi, CA. This role is ideal for LPTs who excel in fast-paced, structured settings and are motivated by meaningful, mission-driven work. You will collaborate with nursing and custody staff to ensure safety, compliance, and consistent care delivery. This assignment offers a strong opportunity to expand your skills in correctional and behavioral health while working with a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

Active physical California LPT license (hard copy required)
Minimum 1 year of recent LPT experience in correctional, psychiatric, long-term care, urgent care, clinic, or acute-care settings
Current BLS certification from AHA only
Ability to pass DOJ/FBI background check and full correctional security clearance
Strong communication, observation, and de-escalation skills

Skills and Competencies

Patient-centered approach with calm professionalism in high-pressure situations
Adaptability, strong clinical judgment, and emotional resilience
Effective collaboration with RNs, mental health staff, and custody personnel
Knowledge of correctional safety standards, emergency procedures, and infection control protocols

Unit Information

Setting: Correctional Facility – Inmate Healthcare Unit
Support Staff: RNs, LVNs, Physicians, Mental Health Technicians

Travel Contract Details

6-month assignment with potential for extension
Weekly pay with direct deposit
Travel stipends for housing and meals may be available
